Book Looking for a Perfect World

Download or read book Looking for a Perfect World written by Juan González-Hernández (College teacher) and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The vision of perfectionism as a multidimensional variable has gained weight in scientific evidence as social functioning sets more rigorous performance standards of an individual or group differentiation in any field (e.g., academic, sports, work, social, religious...). There is a need to establish how we achieve the goals we set ourselves in any field of action, thanks mainly to the creation of valid and reliable instruments to measure it. In today's societies, there is an increasing emphasis on how to respond to the demands of the environment as quickly as possible, being effective and achieving the best results. The demands of the environment make it possible to stimulate contextually (if they are seen as traits) and to construct perfectionist patterns and attitudes (if they are understood as learned cognitions or behaviors), which are usually associated with agonizing feelings of devaluation, incapacity or psychological vulnerability. Perfectionists are characterized by setting their goals too high as they are always on a quest to do things perfectly. In cases where they cannot do something perfectly, they do not even try, or they live with significant suffering that floods their lives, causing feelings of dissatisfaction and affecting their self-esteem, mainly because their attention is reduced to focusing only on the end of the tasks they perform, leaving the development of the task in the background. People who seek to do things perfectly are rigid when it comes to carrying them out, causing difficulty in adapting to changes, and preventing them from enjoying the present moment or taking advantage of their mistakes to improve themselves. In the same way, we can say that they reject reality, or at least they are reluctant to experience it in a way that is very different from the way they shape it. It is impossible to make everything perfect, as all people make mistakes, but perfectionists conceive failure as an expression of their maladjustment and for this reason, they generate high levels of anxiety, becoming people who try to control everything around them.

Book In Search of a Perfect World

Download or read book In Search of a Perfect World written by Michael C. Sullivan and published by Perfect World. This book was released on 2005-05 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In Search of a Perfect World" examines the basic questions of human life on Earth: Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here? And where are we going? In attempting to answer these questions, humans have formed religious, social and political groups and launched wars to remove impediments to their visions of a more-perfect world. Intentional or utopian communities have been similarly inspired. Throughout the world, many cultures have maintained a belief that the world was once a better, more harmonious place and and will be again, after some form of cataclysm and the arrival of a savior or redeemer. This phenomenon, in some societies, is known as millennialism.

Download or read book Half the Church written by Carolyn Custis James and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2011-04-19 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women comprise at least half the world, and usually more than half the church, but so often Christian teaching to women either fails to move beyond a discussion of roles or assumes a particular economic situation or stage of life. This all but shuts women out from contributing to God’s kingdom as they were designed to do. Furthermore, the plight of women in the Majority World demands a Christian response, a holistic embrace of all that God calls women and men to be in his world. The loudest voices speaking into women’s lives in the twenty-first century thus far come from either fundamentalist Islam or radical feminism. And neither can be allowed to carry the day. The Bible contains the highest possible view of women and invests women’s lives with cosmic significance regardless of their age, stage of life, social status, or culture. Carolyn Custis James unpacks three transformative themes the Bible presents to women that raise the bar for women and calls them to join their brothers in advancing God’s gracious kingdom on earth. These new images of what can be in Christ free women to embrace the life God gives them, no matter what happens. Carolyn encourages readers with a positive, kingdom approach to the changes, challenges, and opportunities facing women throughout the world today.

As Ren comes to know the eccentric local figures, from the enigmatic politician who’s boarding him to his fellow teachers and a rebellious, captivating young female student, he delves into his shared childhood with Keiko and what followed. Download or read book A Perfect World written by Rev. Bagan Tewa and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-04-26 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is why he said, Let the weak say they are strong. Keep saying it and you will become it and you will have no choice but to release it because power and strength never stays within. A ruler and a scale are two different forms of measurement. The scale is used to create balance with the thoughts and with the ruler you measure everything else. You can measure the life and not the thoughts because the thoughts have no ending. But the mans life, you can measure it, because there is an end to his life. There is no position that you are stuck in until you die. As a matter of fact, you get out of life just what you put in. We are all Gods children. Talking about your fear with other people is the best thing you can do. It does not matter how ridiculous the fears in your mind sound. Ponder this: I think greed discovered man, rather than man discovered greed. There are many reasons why I think most men feel that women should not run the world. Firstly, their own insecurity, secondly, their thirst for greed, thirdly selfishness, but most of all is that fear inside that women do the same to them that they did to females in the past. Being a slave to your own fear is one of the most deadly things in life, it prevents you from achieving your dreams, it is sometimes worse than alcohol or drugs.
