Download or read book Railroad Crossings to Restoration Looking Back and Pressing Forward written by Larene Sanford and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hope is like a light shining in the distance where once laid darkness. In faith, though doubting and crying out to a God of love, hope springs up and grows increasingly with trust until the light bursts through the small opening in the trees. Now when you see clearly, life takes on new meaning. In Railroad Crossings to Restoration: Looking Back and Pressing Forward, Larene speaks from the heart in truth and love, remembering the journey she had traveled in the darkest moments of her life. This journey would not be like the last. It was not one where she knew the landmarks and where God would show her the paths to take to get there, filling in the blank spaces between. No. This journey was different. With no landmarks on the map and no knowledge of where she was going, she would need to trust God as He took her uncertain hand and made this new journey a mystery, an adventure, a venture into a newfound land of faith.

Book The Passing of the Night

Download or read book The Passing of the Night written by Joanne Van Leerdam and published by WordyNerdBird. This book was released on 2017-08-08 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People experience all kinds of night: loneliness, grief, depression, anxiety, fear, pain, and countless other darknesses. This collection of profound lyrical poems explores the poet's own experiences and observations of both dark and light, revealing her determination to not only survive, but to conquer whatever tries to overcome her. At the end of it all, the poet demonstrates that the smallest sign of light is enough to help a wandering soul find hope in the passing of the night. " Intensely personal, at times almost uncomfortably confessional, these poems bare the author's soul to the reader. Ultimately, she triumphs over despair, but it is a hard-won battle, and we sense the fight continues. We take comfort in knowing she will never surrender." - Reviewer

Hernández-Saca and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-12-13 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Understanding the Boundary between Disability Studies and Special Education through Consilience, Self-Study, and Radical Love, the authors explore what it means to engage in boundary work at the intersection of traditional special education systems and critical disability studies in education. The book consists of fifteen groundbreaking accounts that challenge dominant medicalized discourses about what it means to exist within and around special education systems that create space for new conceptions of what it means to teach, lead, learn, and exist within a conciliatory space driven by radical love and disability justice principles. The book pushes readers to consider how their own personal, professional and programmatic future transformational actions can be driven by disruption and the desire for freedom from the hegemony of traditional special education and White and Ability supremacy.

Book excerpt: Living an idyllic life in the Normandy region of France, former Coast Guard officer and reformed drug smuggler Cole Williams wants nothing more than to put his turbulent past behind him. The lure of open seas still calls, but he’s content to work at a bakery and spend quality time with the love of his life and a baby daughter they both adore. And then Cole’s sordid smuggling transgressions suddenly surface like a marauding submarine. He’s snatched back into a dark world where oceans are simply avenues for criminal enterprise. Blackmailed with threats of prison or worse, Cole is forced to join a small international team working to prevent the infiltration of terrorists into America. The plan is to plant him among smuggling rings running drugs, weapons, human beings, and any other lucrative cargo by sea into the U.S. via the Gulf of Mexico. Ensconced as a mole among brutal criminal bands, Cole must navigate dangerous waters to uncover a deadly plot that threatens thousands of innocents in his homeland. Cole Williams may not survive his return to sea, but he has no choice. To survive, he will have to swim with killer sharks or be eaten by them. Boland tells a thrilling tale...and he knows how to keep a reader turning the pages. --Timothy J. Lockhart, Virginian-Pilot

Book Tense Future

    Book Details:
  • Author : Paul K. Saint-Amour
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press
  • Release : 2015
  • ISBN : 0190200944
  • Pages : 369 pages

Download or read book Tense Future written by Paul K. Saint-Amour and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2015 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tense Future falls into two parts. The first develops a critical account of total war discourse and addresses the resistant potential of acts, including acts of writing, before a future that looks barred or predetermined by war. Part two shifts the focus to long interwar narratives that pit both their scale and their formal turbulence against total war's portrait of the social totality, producing both ripostes and alternatives to that portrait in the practice of literary encyclopedism. The book's introduction grounds both parts in the claim that industrialized warfare, particularly the aerial bombing of cities, intensifies an under-examined form of collective traumatization: a pretraumatic syndrome in which the anticipation of future-conditional violence induces psychic wounds. Situating this claim in relation to other scholarship on "critical futurities," Saint-Amour discusses its ramifications for trauma studies, historical narratives generally, and the historiography of the interwar period in particular. The introduction ends with an account of the weak theory of modernism now structuring the field of modernist studies, and of weak theory's special suitability for opposing total war, that strongest of strong theories.
