This suppression also keeps us from fully realizing our spiritual natures and that we do have the ability to accomplish amazing things when we live with full honesty in our lives. There are actions we can take to correct this situation but they are mass actions which need many persons involved to have a real effect. A list of these actions are given later in this book.

Book excerpt: I recently wrote a book titled “33 Incredible Real Life Survival Stories” which caused me to be amazed at how people have the persistence to live when confronted by dangerous and deadly situations. I’m an old student of survival. First in my experiences with the Boy Scouts, and then my experiences as an adult backpacker and general sports activities. There are other books out there by Special Forces operators and they prescribe lots of useful information. In this book I’ve included a lot of that type of survival information, but I also wanted to take a little different approach. The Boy Scouts have been part of my life since I was a kid. I was a Cub Scout, a Boy Scout. A scouting Eagle Scout, and later Scoutmaster, and Assistant Scoutmaster. Later on I also became a member of the Knoxville, Tennessee Volunteer Rescue Squad, and a Private Pilot among many other things. There is something to be said about the gradual acquiring of knowledge about survival and how it applies to how we live our lives. So I’ve taken that approach in this book—starting with morals, principles, and the spiritual aspects of survival, to the practical knowledge, and then how that information can be generalized to most situations. You can also bet that most military survival experts, Seals, and other Special Forces were probably Boy Scouts growing up too. Most of them got their basis for survival skills and leadership skills in the Boy Scouts. The Scout Motto is “Be Prepared” and planning ahead is essential for surviving unexpected situations. Therefore, in this book we will give you a lot of lists of things you should get as emergency supplies and what skills to know to survive. The things you will learn about in this book are much of what we learned in the Scouts but we will be taking a deeper cut into the details.

His friends who followed the conventional career path experienced terrible lives when most of them were wiped out in the great depression. Even one who made it big financially was mainly interested in earthly status which doesn’t’ make a difference in the long run. My point is that we need to be thoughtful about how we envision the future of our lives so we live life with meaning and don’t have unrealistic expectations. Thinking about life this way is the first way to avoid having a fear of failure. In this book we review the reasons people have fears of failure, persons who changed failure into success, and how to modify our lives to change our fears of failure into a path for success and happiness.

Here I’ve looked at the history of unmanned exploration of Mars over the last fifty plus years, proposed missions to Mars, Mars Settlements, and other major issues regarding traveling to and living on Mars. Some proposals have lots of details of proposed scenarios if you want to read all of the engineering and scientific analysis work. I grew up in the 1960s when every kid in America was fascinated with the Space program and the Astronauts. I also watched not only the Apollo 11 moon landing, but all of the successive trips to the Moon and exploration of the surface. This may be a lot of the reason I became and Engineer, worked as NASA in Houston for several years, and applied to the Astronaut Program myself. There are some probes which reported life on Mars and then other scientists questioned the results. We are still sending unmanned probes today to try to answer those questions.
