Book Locker Room Nudes

Download or read book Locker Room Nudes written by and published by Universe Publishing(NY). This book was released on 2005 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This remarkable collection of candid nude photos of France’s national rugby team goes beneath the uniform to reveal what real jocks look like underneath it all. Each image taken by leading French photographer Franois Rousseau depicts the rugby player―alone or with teammates―undressing, lounging on the bench, showering. Locker Room Men is at once a celebration of athletes and the beauty of the male form as well as the fulfillment of the fantasy of going behind the scenes in a winning team’s locker room. Sure to appeal to both gay men and straight women, these photos are unusual because the men are not models. They don’t work out just to look good―and look good they do―their bodies are sculpted by winning victories on the field. They aren’t made up, shaved, or prettified in any way. These are some of the world’s best rugby players―brawny, tough, competitive. Since 1999, the French national rugby team has posed nude or semi-nude for an annual calendar. The purpose behind the calendar was to get wider “exposure” for rugby and the team. In 2004, Franois Rousseau was selected as photographer, and he successfully brought out the sensual beauty and sexiness inherent in the rugby players’ rough and tumble exterior. The calendar became a cult hit, and thus the book was born so that even more of these unparalleled images could be savored. Whether or not rugby will become more popular in this country remains to be seen, but this book will certainly raise the game’s profile…

Download or read book Self exposure written by Reed Massengill and published by Universe Publishing(NY). This book was released on 2005 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The nude self-portrait is perhaps the most intimate form of photography. It delves deep into taboo territory and strips away the traditional barriers between artist and viewer. Witnessing such a private act, we may feel the queasy embarrassment of a voyeur, but we are always compelled to look further. The images cut to the core of issues of identity, sexuality, and ego– and as they reveal an essential truth about their creators they also tell us something about ourselves. Self-Exposure features more than 100 works from both established masters and up-and-coming photographers–many never before published. This groundbreaking collection traces the development of the male self-portrait from its earliest beginnings with such greats as Hippolyte Bayard, Herbert Tobias, and André Kertész, to the contemporary efforts of such artists as John Dugdale, Anthony Goicolea, and Yasumasa Morimura. Each artist takes a uniquely individual approach ranging from the shockingly perverse and aggressively erotic to the elusively self-conscious and sublimely beautiful. Complete with brief biographies of each artist, Self-Exposure is a powerful survey of this most seductive subject.

Download or read book The Nude written by Richard Leppert and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Nude explores some of the principal ways that paintings of the nude function in the conflicted terrain of culture and society in Europe and America from the fifteenth through twentieth centuries, as set against questions about human sexuality that emerge around differences of class, gender, age, and race. Author Richard Leppert relates the visual history of how the naked body intersects with the foundational characteristics of what it is to be human, measured against a range of basic emotions (happiness, delight, and desire; fear, anxiety, and abjection) and read in the context of changing social and cultural realities. The bodies comprising the Western nude are variously pleasured or tormented, ecstatic or bored, pleased or horrified. In short, as this volume amply demonstrates, the nude in Western art is a terrain on whose surface is written a summation of Western history: its glory but also its degradation.

Book Normal Child and Adolescent Development

Download or read book Normal Child and Adolescent Development written by Ralph J. Gemelli and published by American Psychiatric Publishing. This book was released on 1996 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Normal Child and Adolescent Development is an exceptional learning tool for beginning mental health professionals engaged in training programs to prepare for work with children, adolescents, and adults with mental and behavioral problems. Throughout the book, illustrative examples of normal and abnormal development are presented to demonstrate the usefulness of normal development concepts in understanding abnormal development. Intended as an introduction to child and adolescent mental development, this book describes each major stage of the development process, integrating each major aspect of development with the leading developmental theories. Each chapter follows the same basic outline to help the reader understand the continuous nature of the child's mental development through succeeding developmental phases. This schematic organization emphasizes that children's mental development is continuous as well as discontinuous: their representational world provides the continuous "landscape" from which they progressively perceive the social world using their increasingly more complex perceptual and cognitive capabilities; discontinuous in the sense that children's maturational advances, coupled with new life events, will produce relatively unexpected developmental changes in them. The text includes several important concepts of normal mental development. A thorough understanding of the id, ego, superego and the self; the unconscious mental domain; implicit versus explicit memories; the development of the internal distress signal; mechanisms of defense; transference reactions; and mental organizing principles is essential for any practitioner who will ultimately be involved in evaluatory and treatment work with mentally disturbed children, adolescents, and adults.

Book Goliath Wallpaper of Fame

Download or read book Goliath Wallpaper of Fame written by Walter Kundzicz and published by Goliath Publishing. This book was released on 2011-10-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Under the name Champion Studio, Walter Kundzicz (b. 1925) became one of last of the great pioneers of physique photography when he entered the field in the late 1950s. Unlike the earlier oiled-and-posed demigods who graced the pages of the popular magazines of the day (Strength and Health, Muscle Power, Tomorrow's Man, The Young Physique and similar publications), Champion's handsome young models were a new breed. They were less often competitive bodybuilders and instead seemed more like the bad-boys-next-door that viewers secretly wanted to sneak a peak of in the locker room or fool around with under the bleachers. Kundzicz's images were bold and iconoclastic in their use of costumes, uniforms, props and vivid color. These photographs became wildly popular with mail-order customers and collectors because they stood in stark contrast to most of the physique photography available at that time. While Champion was at its peak in the mid-1960s, Kundzicz launched and published his own magazines, including Big and Go Guys, expanding and strengthening the Champion brand. His ability to create and market these colorful, campy images of handsome young men assured him of a loyal fan base that continues to grow even today, a half century after most of his iconic images were created. In his color photos of nude and semi-nude athletic men of the 50s and 60s, Walter Kundzicz pushed the societal taboos of his time and skirted the fringes of legality. In his Champion Studios he portrayed his toned and scantily clad models in delicate and playful postures that not only lived out and performed common homoerotic fantasies, but also perfectly captured the rigid but changing sexual climate in North America between the Kinsey report and hippy free love. Today Kundzicz is considered one of the best photographers of his genre, with his prints becoming rare collectibles. "Classic Male Nudes", Issue Two of GOLIATH WALLPAPER OF FAME, is dedicated to Walter Kundzicz's outstanding photographic work from this era, and includes a lifesized poster and nine XL-Posters, as well as an autobiographic text by Kundzicz himself. "Goliath Wallpaper of Fame" is a unique poster book collectible with large-scale prints of outstanding photographs, paintings or illsutrations from different artists or movements. Each issue includes interesting background information, for example, interviews and biographies, as well as nine XL- and one XXL-/lifesize poster.

  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2012-08-22
  • ISBN : 1610977882
  • Pages : 327 pages

Download or read book The Naked Christ written by Dan Le and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-08-22 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cross of Christ is undeniably central to the Christian faith. But, how can the cruelty and brutality of a two-thousand-year-old Roman cross touch base with a hedonistic world that has been so desensitized towards violence? Within the postmodern setting of a body-obsessed culture, Christianity urgently requires an innovative and stimulating way of understanding the cross and its atoning significance. At the heart of this book is the Naked Christ--an emblem through which the author draws on the rich resources of the Christian tradition in its portrayal of the cross. He explores how the metaphors of nakedness and clothing can encapsulate aspects of atonement and enable them to be understood within a variety of contemporary contexts. The Naked Christ is a useful resource for anyone seeking fresh ways to express what the cross of Christ means to contemporary culture.
