Download or read book Sustainable management of Mediterranean coastal fresh and transitional water bodies a socio economic and environmental analysis of changes and trends to enhance and sustain stakeholders benefits written by and published by Firenze University Press. This book was released on with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents the Proceedings of the International Conference of the WADI project held in Malta, 5-8 November 2008, at the end of the project itself. The WADI project funded by the European Commission, was carried out from 2006 to 2008 by a consortium of researchers from European and Mediterranean countries, and was focused on coastal water bodies, aiming at integrating water management and the needs of all stakeholders. The Proceedings illustrate some of the outcomes of the WADI project that focused on case studies represented by water bodies in the Mediterranean coastal area.
Download or read book Biology of Benthic Organisms written by B. F. Keegan and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 665 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biology of Benthic Organisms contains papers presented at the 11th European Symposium on Marine Biology, held at Galway, Ireland in October 1976. The collection contains 63 papers discussing the biological aspects of benthic organisms. The authors, mostly marine biologists, provide articles discussing their studies of marine life from different bodies of water from around the world. Topics on community structures of soft-bottom macrofauna in different parts of the Baltic; studies on anaerobic nitrogen fixation in the sediments of two Scottish sea-lochs; distribution of benthic phyto- and zoocoenoses along a light gradient in a superficial marine cave; and structural features of a North Adriatic benthic community are discussed in detail. Marine biologists, botanists, zoologists, and biologists will find the book invaluable.
Download or read book Farm Land Erosion written by S. Wicherek and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last twenty years, mutations within agricultural systems in France and Europe have brought on a spectacular worsening of soil erosion and degradation. This volume, contributed to by scientists from 25 countries, discusses how this risk can be evaluated, and which solutions should be adopted without radically disturbing the socio-economic orientation of major agricultural regions. It is an excellent starting point for the development of new research themes, and will be of great value to soil and environmental scientists, and to all those involved in land irrigation and drainage.

Download or read book Sampling Program for Residential Wood Combustion written by Yvette Bonvalot and published by Environment Canada, Québec Region. This book was released on 2000 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In response to findings of a study of health & environmental impacts of air pollution in the Greater Montreal area which identified wood heating as one of the major sources of air pollution in the region, a sampling program was conducted in winter 1998-99 to assess the impact of residential wood burning in Rivière-des-Prairies. This report describes & presents findings of that program. Sampling materials & methods are described and results are presented & analyzed with regard to: levels & sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH); fine particulate matter (PM) & factors affecting observed concentrations; the relationship between PAH & PM values; metals; and volatile organic compounds. Finally, recommendations are made to improve understanding of the issues surrounding wood combustion.

This annual summary presents data reported from over 500 sampling instruments in more than 50 cities across the 10 provinces and the 2 territories. Measurements were made for sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, soiling index, suspended particulates, lead, sulphate, and nitrate. The summary also compares the data for the year with national air quality objectives for sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone and suspended particulates.
