This book was released on 2017-11-18 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Livestock and Meat Situation, Vol. 91: August 1957 If general economic factors affecting cattle remain about as in 1957, numbers might not decrease as long or as far as usual. The low point might come in 1959 or 1960, and at around 92 million head. This is an estimate built on year-to-year projections of cow numbers, calf cr0p and slaughter rate, summary data for which are in table 6. A reduction in cattle inventories begins when prices (current and prospective) are unprofitably low relative to the factors involved in produc tion. Range and feed conditions, costs of purchased feeds, other cost rates, and the availability and cost of financing. Similarly, numbers are built up again when the price outlook is favorable relative to those factors. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Livestock and Meat Situation, Vol. 131: July 1963 World cattle numbers increased to billion head in 1963, 19 million more than the previous year, 169 million above the 1951-55 average and 99 mil lion above the 1956 - 60 average. This world-high record in numbers is due principally to high prices received for beef and veal resulting from strong demand in many countries as standards of living continue to rise. Per capita demand for livestock products increases with consumer incomes. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Livestock and Meat Situation Vol 135

Download or read book Livestock and Meat Situation Vol 135 written by United States Economic Research Service and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-19 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Livestock and Meat Situation, Vol. 135: January 1964 Cattle feeders reported intentions to market about 6 percent more cattle and calves during January through March than a year earlier. This number would be about 1 percent more than the number marketed for slaughter in October December 1963. Slaughter of grass fed cattle in january-march likely will be up some what from.a year earlier but not as much as slaughter of fed cattle. Little change is expected in cow slaughter. Total beef production in january-march, therefore, probably will be up about h percent from a year earlier. The prospective supply situation for fed beef does not lend much support to higher fed cattle prices during the first quarter of 196h. First quarter prices may average somewhat above prices in mid-january of about (choice steers at Chicago), but slaughter supplies are still large enough to prevent any strong price improvement. Some further improvement in fed cattle prices this spring is likely because the bulk of the heavy weight cattle will have moved to slaughter. Heavy cattle on feed April 1 then may be around 5 or 6 percent below April last year. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Livestock and Meat Situation, Vol. 101: March 1959 An increase of 35 million head during 1958 lifted the U. S. Cattle inventory to 97 million on January 1, 1959. This is about equal to the high mark of 1956. Numbers will almost certainly increase further during 1959, and the inventory next January will be a new high. Book The Livestock and Meat Situation Vol 31

Download or read book The Livestock and Meat Situation Vol 31 written by U. S. Bureau Of Agricultural Economics and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-18 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Livestock and Meat Situation, Vol. 31: September, 1949 September less meat is likely to be sold from storage than in the compa rable month of 1948. Supplies of beef the rest of this year will be influenced on the one hand by the prospective larger number of grain-fed cattle, and on the other hand by the fewer grass cattle, that will be slaughtered this year compared'with last. More cattle have been fed this year than in 1948; on August 1, the increase in the number on feed in the Corn Belt was 24 per cent. Consequently, slaughter of grain-fed cattle this fall will exceed that of last year. How many grass cattle will go to slaughter will be governed mainly by the number of cattle put into feed lots, since sale of twe-way cattle as feeders removes them.from.the immediate supply for slaughter. The most likely prospect is that eattle slaughter will have less of a seasonal peak this fall than usual and that the total number slaughtered in the last months of the year will be slightly smaller'than in the same neriod of 1948. Since weights per head.will be beatier, beef production may be as large or slightly larger than in late 1948. Book The Livestock and Meat Situation Vol 107

Download or read book The Livestock and Meat Situation Vol 107 written by United States Department Of Agriculture and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-19 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Livestock and Meat Situation, Vol. 107: January 1960 Cattle slaughter was above a year ago in the final 2 months of 1959 after lagging behind a year earlier for approximately 2 years. Calf slaugh ter in commercial plants was also near the previous year's rate for the first time since the fall of 1957. These developments reflect a continued high rate of fed cattle marketings plus some slackening in withholdings for herd expansion. Fed cattle will make up the bulk of slaughter supplies this winter and spring and will continue large throughout the year. However, marketing of grass cattle next summer and fall will likely be moderately larger than during these seasons in 1959. Sheep and lamb slaughter has been significantly larger than a year earlier since July. As the 1959 lamb crop was up only 2 percent, slaughter this winter is expected to drop below last winter. Price advances will be moderated by liberal supplies of competing meats, but prices should soon rise seasonally up to or a little above last winter. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Livestock and Meat Situation, Vol. 46: December, 1950 Seasonally rising prices for most classes of meat animals and most meats are in prospect for this winter. A decrease in slaughter supplies of livestock as the peak marketing season passes, together with maintained or increasing demand due to defense activities, underlie this outlook. This book was released on 2018-01-08 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Livestock and Meat Situation, Vol. 18: August 1948 Prices of meat animals were comparatively steady in early August after setting new farm price records in mid-july. Prices received by farmers for cattle, veal calves and lambs were higher than ever before on July 15, and prices for hogs were the highest since January. In late July and early August hog prices strengthened as receipts lightened. Top cattle, short in supply, held strong. Medium and poorer grades of cattle declined moderately, a normal trend for those cattle at this season. Lambs also declined in price seasonally.
