Tributaire de la tradition, la littérature orale africaine a pour fondement initial, l'art oratoire (la parole ou le verbe) dans toutes ses formes esthétiques et éthiques. Riche de sens et de profondeur, elle nous apparait tel un corps de métiers qui participe au progrès multiforme d'un pays. Sur ce, dans quelle mesure les métiers de ladite littérature peuvent-ils contribuer au développement d'un pays dans le contexte de sa mise perspective? Quels en sont donc les enjeux dans une société africaine en pleine mutation? Telles sont les questions qui constitueront l'ossature de notre réflexion. À cet effet, dans l'exercice de cette recherche, on fait recours à la méthode éclectique. Premièrement, il s'agira des Cultural Studies d'Armand Mattelart et d'Erik Neveu (2003), une approche théorique qui permet de revaloriser les cultures africaines et enfin, l'épistémocritique de Michel Pierssens (1990) afin de déconstruire tous clichés réductionnistes à propos des métiers de la littérature orale africaine dans leur rôle de contributeur au développement d'un pays.

Ruth Ginio shows how this was a watershed period in the history of the region by providing an in-depth examination of the Vichy colonial visions and practices in fwa. She describes the intriguing encounters between the colonial regime and African society along with the responses of different sectors in the African population to the Vichy policy. Although French Colonialism Unmasked focuses on one region within the French Empire, it has relevance to French colonial history in general by providing one of the missing pieces in research on Vichy colonialism. Ruth Ginio is a research fellow at the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Its subject, reflected in the title "Sciences and Empires", is not a currently-accepted sub-discipline of the history of science; rather, it refers to a set of questions which found autonomy only recently. The terminology was strongly debated by the participants and, as is frequently suggested in this book, awaits fuller clarification.

Many of the key commodities of trade are largely invisible archaeologically, being either of high value like gold and ivory, or organic like slaves and textiles or consumable commodities like salt. However, new research on the Libyan people known as the Garamantes and on their trading partners in the Sudan and Mediterranean Africa requires us to revise our views substantially. In this volume experts re-assess the evidence for a range of goods, including beads, textiles, metalwork and glass, and use it to paint a much more dynamic picture, demonstrating that the pre-Islamic Sahara was a more connected region than previously thought.

Yet just fifteen years later France had decolonized, and by 1960 only a few small island territories remained under French control.The process of decolonization in Indochina and Algeria has been widely studied, but much less has been written about decolonization in France's largest colony, French West Africa. Here, the French approach was regarded as exemplary -- that is, a smooth transition successfully managed by well intentioned French politicians and enlightened African leaders. Overturning this received wisdom, Chafer argues that the rapid unfurling of events after the Second World War was a complex , piecemeal and unpredictable process, resulting in a 'successful decolonization' that was achieved largely by accident.
