Download or read book Liquid Dielectrics in an Inhomogeneous Pulsed Electric Field Second Edition written by Mikhail N Shneider and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-29 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by leading experts in the field, the first edition of this textbook was the first of its kind to address numerous potential applications such as the technology of high-voltage insulation in pulsed inhomogeneous fields, and applications related to cavitation development in liquid dielectrics, treatment of different materials and plasma medicine. This second edition addresses the development of the theory over the past few years and features extensive revisions, as well as some expanded chapters. A new inclusion is an explanation of how the critical pressure at which cavitation is initiated is determined according to the surface tension coefficient at the boundary of small nanovoids and microbubbles. Discussion of the quantum mechanical nature of the cavitation inception in liquid helium is also provided, along with the derived values of critical negative pressure for the appearance of cavitation, and its characteristics at low temperatures.

Book Pulsed Discharge Plasmas

Download or read book Pulsed Discharge Plasmas written by Tao Shao and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-14 with total page 1028 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the latest progress in pulsed discharge plasmas presented by front-line researchers worldwide. The science and technology surrounding pulsed discharge plasmas is advanced through a wide scope of interdisciplinary studies into pulsed power and plasma physics. Pulsed discharge plasmas with high-power density, high E/N and high-energy electrons can effectively generate highly reactive plasma. Related applications have gathered strong interests in various fields. With contributions from global scientists, the book elaborates on the theories, numerical simulations, diagnostic methods, discharge characteristics and application technologies of pulsed discharge plasmas. The book is divided into three parts with a total of 35 chapters, including 11 chapters on pulsed discharge generation and mechanism, 12 chapters on pulsed discharge characterization and 12 chapters on pulsed discharge applications (wastewater treatments, biomedicine, surface modification, and energy conversion, etc). The book is a must-have reference for researchers and engineers in related fields and graduate students interested in the subject.

Book Insulation of High Voltage Equipment

Download or read book Insulation of High Voltage Equipment written by Vasily Y. Ushakov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-03-05 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-voltage electrophysical systems used for research in physics are becoming more and more common in engineering applications, as electrical insulation comprises one of the most important constituent components. This is the first monograph dealing comprehensively and on a scientific level with the insulation of such systems. In the first part of the book, the operating conditions and necessary requirements are analyzed, while the main insulation types are outlined. The second part describes the short- and long-term strengths of vacuums and gases, as well as liquid, solid, and hybrid dielectrics as functions of various influencing factors. The third and last part is devoted to the design of high-voltage insulation systems. The knowledge provided by this book will be useful to physicists designing experimental high-voltage devices as well as to electrical engineers in high-voltage technology, electrical insulation, and cable industries.

Book Conduction and Pumping in Dielectric Liquids Under the Influence of an Applied Electric Field

Download or read book Conduction and Pumping in Dielectric Liquids Under the Influence of an Applied Electric Field written by Kazutoshi Asano and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main objective of this research was to study the charge injection mechanism from a metal to a dielectric liquid with an applied electric field and also to study the fluid motion and pressure which result from motion of the injected charge. A non-uniform electric field system was constructed and corn oil and silicone oil were used as the dielectric liquid. The experimental results indicate that the current and pressure are the same order of magnitude independent of the polarity of the applied voltage. A new interface potential model was proposed to explain these experimental observations. The experimental results also showed that the similar motion of flow inside the test cell as in the calculation was confirmed by the pressure measurement. (Author).
