  • Author : David E. Campbell
  • Publisher : Cambridge University Press

Download or read book Secular Surge written by David E. Campbell and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2020-12-03 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: American society is rapidly secularizing–a radical departure from its historically high level of religiosity–and politics is a big part of the reason. Just as, forty years ago, the Religious Right arose as a new political movement, today secularism is gaining traction as a distinct and politically energized identity. This book examines the political causes and political consequences of this secular surge, drawing on a wealth of original data. The authors show that secular identity is in part a reaction to the Religious Right. However, while the political impact of secularism is profound, there may not yet be a Secular Left to counterbalance the Religious Right. Secularism has introduced new tensions within the Democratic Party while adding oxygen to political polarization between Democrats and Republicans. Still there may be opportunities to reach common ground if politicians seek to forge coalitions that encompass both secular and religious Americans.

Book The Layman s Guide To Rightly Dividing The Word of Truth

This book was released on 2019-06-10 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inside this book are guidelines that I believe one must follow if they are to rightly understand God's Word. If we follow these guidelines, we will be able to know God's will and his truth. God does not intend for us to know everything in this life for faith is crucial to the Christian life, but that which He is willing to share is there inside His Word. However, one must know how to approach it. This book not only show you how to do this, but gives examples of it being applied. It also covers many biblical doctrines using this format to show how these doctrines must be understood.

Book A Layman s Christianity

Download or read book A Layman s Christianity written by Ken Dickason and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2010-11-17 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sordid romance! Gripping intrigue! Fast-paced action! None of these really describe a book about theology, and they, surprisingly enough, do not apply to "A Layman's Christianity," either. However, if you are looking for a well thought out book, replete with scriptural references, written, not by a dreary doctorate of theology nor by a "hip," "young" pastor of a mega-lo-church, but by an average joe, then look no further. Written from a young man's perspective, "A Layman's Christianity" is a book that delves into the belief that every man has the right to think about who God is and what He wants from our lives and that phrase, "every man," is not restricted to age, gender, or educational background, but rather should be based on the author's commitment to God and his love for His Bible. "A Layman's Christianity" is not a "how-to-manual" for living a better Christian life, but is rather an outline of several characteristics and ideas that, taken together, form the author's ideal Christian. Leaving room open for argument and individual thought, "A Layman's Christianity" refuses to be taken at face value and insists that the reader check its assertions with the Bible, thus fulfilling the purpose of the book: that every man and woman who follows after God has the right and responsibility to think about Him and upon Him.

Book A Layman s Daily Devotional

    Book Details:
  • Author : Curt Donahue
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2017-02-27
  • ISBN : 1635756367
  • Pages : 422 pages

Download or read book A Layman s Daily Devotional written by Curt Donahue and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2017-02-27 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Layman's Daily Devotional was written by a layman for laypeople of all ages. It is mostly devoid of theological terms, so it is easier for the average person to understand. There are applicable illustrations to help people comprehend the message from Scripture and its application to the message of the day. There is a devotion for every day of the year, and several devotions for specific days in the Christian calendar, as well as for days on which we honor both mothers and fathers. The reader will likely gain a closer relationship with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through daily use and may also develop a closer relationship with family members when used as a family devotion. The changing and challenging circumstances in our world today require closer relationships with both God and family. A Layman's Daily Devotional lends itself to development of both relationships. With few exceptions, each devotion is a stand-alone devotion. This book would make a meaningful gift to a young person venturing out on their own, who could develop the habit early of spending time each day with God, which is always a good way to start every day. A Layman's Daily Devotional is written such that it can be used year after year throughout one's life.
