Book excerpt: The Light-Cone 2016 conference, held in September 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal, belongs to a series of yearly Light-Cone meetings that started in 1991. As its predecessors, this conference was guided by the objectives defined by the International Light Cone Advisory Committee, namely to “advance research in quantum field theory, particularly light-cone quantization methods applicable to the solution of physical problems”. This volume compiles selected papers presented at the conference by experts from all over the world, which describe recent progress in theoretical research, and new results and planned activities at leading experimental facilities, with special emphasis on the physics of hadrons and nuclei.

Book Holographic Duality in Condensed Matter Physics

Download or read book Holographic Duality in Condensed Matter Physics written by Jan Zaanen and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-11-05 with total page 587 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A pioneering treatise presenting how the new mathematical techniques of holographic duality unify seemingly unrelated fields of physics. This innovative development morphs quantum field theory, general relativity and the renormalisation group into a single computational framework and this book is the first to bring together a wide range of research in this rapidly developing field. Set within the context of condensed matter physics and using boxes highlighting the specific techniques required, it examines the holographic description of thermal properties of matter, Fermi liquids and superconductors, and hitherto unknown forms of macroscopically entangled quantum matter in terms of general relativity, stars and black holes. Showing that holographic duality can succeed where classic mathematical approaches fail, this text provides a thorough overview of this major breakthrough at the heart of modern physics. The inclusion of extensive introductory material using non-technical language and online Mathematica notebooks ensures the appeal to students and researchers alike.

Book The Dual Light Speed Universe and the Dot Wave Theory with Quantum Entanglement 2020

Download or read book The Dual Light Speed Universe and the Dot Wave Theory with Quantum Entanglement 2020 written by Gerald Grushow and published by . This book was released on 2020-01-25 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My study of the physics of the universe was started in 1981 when I was 42 years old. I wanted to understand what caused objects to attract each other. I also wanted to understand what the universe was composed of. I wanted to understand why Einstein's relativity and Quantum mechanics presented two different views of the universe that did not match each other. Einstein and Bohr could not find common agreement on the basic structure of the universe. I decided to use engineering type methods to build a universe that made sense to me. I believed that simple algebraic equations and simple models were sufficient to fully understand the universe. In order to solve the universe, I studied the constants of the universe and their relationships. I looked at all possibilities that I could think of and produced a series of charts for each possibility. I also studied the numerical relationships between the various constants and the measured forces. I studied classical physics in detail. Then I studied Einstein's special relativity and came to realize that his equations are the geometric mean of simple Doppler Equations. Einstein's equations have done quite well over the years and they are the the best describing function whereas the Doppler equations provide some additional information. There was a big layoff at Sperry/Unisys in 1993 and I retired early at age 55. In 2000 I self-published my first physics book "Doppler Space Time". Quality books distributed it and I was somewhat happy with the results. I tried to explain the universe in terms of a single light speed dimension like Einstein did. The problem with my initial study is that over time new scientific data occurs. As I studied the new information, my theory changed. The basic conversion of mass to charge velocity never changed. The basic equations for the time of the universe since big bang never changed much. However the explanations of how the universe worked changed. I always looked at the universe as a multi-light-speed entity. The various dimensions coexisted and there were indirect interactions between the dimensions. However all the dot-waves were basically independent. I had started in 1981 with dots but over the years they became dot-waves. After I finished "The Dual Light Speed Universe and the Dot-Wave Theory in February 2018, I started to study quantum Entanglement. Then it became self-evident to me that the dot-waves of different dimensions were not independent but crossed between the two light speed dimensions of Co= 2.99792E8 meters per second and Cs where Cs= 18832.8 Co. I knew that the units of the magnetic permeability constant Uo=1.25664E-6 and the gravitational constant G= 6.67260E-11 had the same units of meters squared per coulomb and therefore gravity was similar to a magnetic force. The ratio of Uo to G was 18832.8 and over the years I did not know what this ratio meant. My study of Quantum Entanglement in the last few months made it self-evident to me that this ratio was the exact speed of Quantum Entanglement interactions which were specified as being over 10,000Co. Thus my dot-waves oscillated between the light speed Co dimension and the light speed Cs dimension.

Book New Non Perturbative Methods and Quantization on the Light Cone

Download or read book New Non Perturbative Methods and Quantization on the Light Cone written by P. Grange and published by Springer. This book was released on 1998-04-24 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the several distinct ways of formulating and quantizing a Hamiltonian system, the light cone approach enjoys special status because it has the largest stability group. The aim of this volume is to present recent achievements and open problems in this rather unusual quantization framework to a large audience. The formulation is set up in a comprehensive introduction where the issues are also clearly indicated with specific examples: vacuum structure, signature of non-perturbative effects, chiral symmetry breaking, light cone gauge theories, etc. The following chapters address these topics through a selection of the most relevant contributions presented at Les Houches. This volume should prove valuable to newcomers in the field, and graduates and academics.

Book excerpt: Light-Cone 2015 belongs to a conference series that started in 1991 under the supervision of the International Light Cone Advisory Committee and showed, year by year, to play a vital role in promoting the research towards a rigorous description of hadrons and nuclei, based on Light-Cone quantization methods. A strong relation with the experimental activity represents an important commitment of the Light-Cone community, with the ambition ''to assist in the development of crucial experimental tests at hadron facilities''. This work is comprised of selected papers presented by researchers at new facilities, such as the 12 GeV upgrade of Th. Jefferson Natl. Lab, the FAIR facility at GSI, J-PARC, and other facilities around the globe, at the Light-Cone meeting in Frascati, Italy in 2015.

Book The Wave particle Duality of Light A Demonstration Experiment

Download or read book The Wave particle Duality of Light A Demonstration Experiment written by and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The wave-particle duality of light plays a fundamental role in introductory courses on quantum mechanics. Traditionally the wave and particle aspects of light are demonstrated in separate experiments which makes it difficult for students to understand their complementary nature. We present an experiment using a single apparatus that demonstrates the wave aspect, the particle aspect, and most importantly, their coexistence. The apparatus is based on a Mach-Zehnder interferometer in which a light beam is attenuated so that at each instant there is only a single photon in the interferometer. In this way the observation of single photon interference becomes possible. By integrating the single photon events in a storage oscilloscope the evolution toward classical interference fringes can be shown in real time. A second strong laser beam, derived from the same pointer, but slightly displaced, traverses the interferometer at the same time, allowing the simultaneous demonstration of wave aspects. Special features of the setup are low cost, simplicity, didactical power and suitability for presentations in large lecture halls using both multimedia projections and audible signals.
