Twenty-eight days later, the entire Lutz family fled in terror. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Should a Christian doctrine of salvation be concerned with this life or the life to come? With forgiveness of sins or deliverance of sinners? With the saving of the soul or the healing of the body? Should it focus on the person and work of Jesus Christ or on the presence and power of Holy Spirit? To all these questions (and more), Tony Richie's Saved, Delivered, and Healed: Introducing a Pentecostal Doctrine of Salvation answers "Yes!" Then it proceeds to present from the Scriptures, from Pentecostal theology and spirituality, and from decades of pastoral and personal experiences and academic insights an energetic and holistic view of salvation grounded in the wisdom, goodness, and power of God. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consider this small book to be a message in a bottle cast in the ocean. If you should find it washed up on your shore, you will find it is not a request for help or rescue. Rather, it's more of a treasure map pointing to a road less traveled by many. Using science, religion, philosophy, observation, common sense, thousands of hours pondering, and hundreds of hours studying, the author offers some interesting thoughts about life. It's not an attempt to sell you anything but an effort to pique your curiosity, fire your imagination, and hopefully point you to a path of new discovery. As a recovered alcoholic who has suffered from lifelong clinical depression, the author shares a perspective gained by painful experience and a newly discovered strong foundation upon which to stand. The result is a new way to view the world, which will lead you to your own path of discovery. It should make you question and verify everything you believe. Keep asking questions, eliminate the frivolous, and find your rock to stand on.

Book The Master Margarita

    Book Details:
  • Author : Mikhail Bulgakov
  • Publisher : Rosetta Books
  • Release : 2016-03-22
  • ISBN : 0795348398
  • Pages : 448 pages

Download or read book The Master Margarita written by Mikhail Bulgakov and published by Rosetta Books. This book was released on 2016-03-22 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Satan, Judas, a Soviet writer, and a talking black cat named Behemoth populate this satire, “a classic of twentieth-century fiction” (The New York Times). In 1930s Moscow, Satan decides to pay the good people of the Soviet Union a visit. In old Jerusalem, the fateful meeting of Pilate and Yeshua and the murder of Judas in the garden of Gethsemane unfold. At the intersection of fantasy and realism, satire and unflinching emotional truths, Mikhail Bulgakov’s classic The Master and Margarita eloquently lampoons every aspect of Soviet life under Stalin’s regime, from politics to art to religion, while interrogating the complexities between good and evil, innocence and guilt, and freedom and oppression. Spanning from Moscow to Biblical Jerusalem, a vibrant cast of characters—a “magician” who is actually the devil in disguise, a giant cat, a witch, a fanged assassin—sow mayhem and madness wherever they go, mocking artists, intellectuals, and politicians alike. In and out of the fray weaves a man known only as the Master, a writer demoralized by government censorship, and his mysterious lover, Margarita. Burned in 1928 by the author and restarted in 1930, The Master and Margarita was Bulgakov’s last completed creative work before his death. It remained unpublished until 1966—and went on to become one of the most well-regarded works of Russian literature of the twentieth century, adapted or referenced in film, television, radio, comic strips, theater productions, music, and opera.

Book My Life With The Pentecostals and Other Stuff

Download or read book My Life With The Pentecostals and Other Stuff written by Steve L. Morgan and published by Publish Green. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Storyteller Steve Morgan has a tale to weave for you. It involves some reflection, some irreverence, and - yes - some Pentecostals. It's the story of his life. Imagine being raised where the Devil was always around the next corner - and the end of the world could happen at any time. Then imagine growing up and learning that the rest of the world didn't subscribe to that ''flat earth, six day creation'' theory. How would you deal with that change? Author Steve Morgan has dealt with it by telling these stories - and many more - in My Life With the Pentecostals and Other Stuff. Steve recounts tales of family reunions, summer camps, and being trapped in a ditch with his grandfather (and a pile of watermelons). He also tells stories of being the main source of income in a struggling family and going out into the world to make his own fortune - and his own mistakes. Above all, Steve's storytelling will remind you what it's like to be part of a family and all that ''other stuff'' that comes with it.

Book I Fought the Lord and the Lord Won

Download or read book I Fought the Lord and the Lord Won written by James W. Anderson and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-10-18 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From birth through age fifty-seven, I considered myself a staunch believer in my creator, but failed to embrace the reality that Jesus was truly the son of God in human form. Those struggles lead me to contrast my life to other organized groups of believers and wonder what I might have been capable of doing if my conceptual belief system had a Jihadist foundation instead of my reality. I describe two brushes with death in which the second event took my life in a totally unexpected direction. I describe that profound shift as if I were writing an op-ed, and the wild-goose chase that ensued. Included is an appendix for struggling and skeptical Christians everywhere. It is a contemporary guide to help the reader become comfortable reading the Bible, so that he or she might discover the answer to each and every issue that faces humankind today. In this unfiltered look at living the American dream and great loss, Jim shares his candid assessment of struggles with his conceptual belief system and the faith required to keep his faith alive for the next generation. His unique early-life encounters provided Jim with a sound foundation, a foundation that will be critically tested from unsuspecting angles as he navigates through life. Shan Rutherford, Senior Pastor, Greenwood Christian Church, Greenwood, Indiana.
