Download or read book Liebeslieder Waltzes for SAB ensembles written by Christopher Goldsack and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-07-08 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A vocal score of Brahms's wonderful first collection of Liebeslieder Waltzes, Op.52, arranged for SAB choirs, in a completely new English translation that is satisfying to sing, whilst following the meaning and rhyme structure of the original German poems as closely as possible. To help rehearsals the score has been presented with a solo piano reduction of the piano duet parts. There is also a version available for SATB ensembles. The reduction in parts has been done in such a way that most singers will have little difficulty in switching between the versions. For clarity, the German text is not included.

Download or read book Historical Dictionary of Choral Music written by Melvin P. Unger and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2010-06-17 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The human voice an incredibly beautiful and expressive instrument, and when multiple voices are unified in tone and purpose a powerful statement is realized. No wonder people have always wanted to sing in a communal context-a desire apparently stemming from a deeply rooted human instinct. Consequently, choral performance has often been related historically to human rituals and ceremonies, especially rites of a religious nature. This Historical Dictionary of Choral Music examines choral music and practice in the Western world from the Medieval era to the 21st century, focusing mostly on familiar figures like Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Britten. But its scope is considerably broader, and it includes all sorts of music-religious, secular, and popular-from sources throughout the world. It contains a chronology, an introduction, a bibliography, and more than 1,000 cross-referenced dictionary entries on important composers, genres, conductors, institutions, styles, and technical terms of choral music.

Download or read book Suki Schorer on Balanchine Technique written by Suki Schorer and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When still a young dancer in the New York City Ballet, Suki Schorer was chosen by George Balanchine to lecture, demonstrate, and teach--he recognized in her that rare dancer who not only performs superbly but can also successfully pass along what she knows to others. In Suki Schorer on Balanchine Technique, she commits to paper the fruit of her twenty-four-year collaboration with Balanchine in a close examination of his technique for teachers, scholars, and advanced students of the ballet. Schorer discusses the crucial work at the barre as well as center work, port de bras, pointework, jumps, partnering, and more. Her recollections of her own tutelage under Balanchine and her brilliant use of scores of his remarks about dancing and dancers lend both authority and intimacy to this extraordinary analysis of Balanchine's legacy to the future of dance. Abundantly illustrated throughout with instructional photographs featuring members of the New York City Ballet, this book will serve as an indispensable testament to Balanchine's ideas on technique and performance.
