Download or read book Bullying Impact on Health and Beyond written by Srabstein and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2024-05-17 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Initially this book was intended to raise awareness among health and public health professionals about what is known about the evolving understanding of the multifaceted and toxic nature of bullying, as a psychosocial stressor, linked to a wide range of morbidity and prevalent across social settings, along the lifespan and around the world. In this context this book was primarily aimed at fostering the role of health and public health practitioners in developing strategies for the prevention and detection of bullying and treatment of its associated health risks. The recognition, during the process of developing this book, that bullying is a type of maltreatment which may be associated with other forms of victimization, led me to go beyond the notion of bullying and explore the spectrum of maltreatment"--

Book Women Gender and Constitutionalism in Latin America

Download or read book Women Gender and Constitutionalism in Latin America written by Francisca Pou Giménez and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-04-30 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses to what extent and how constitutional design and practice in Latin America have helped in combatting the subordination of women and LGBTQIA+ people. Covering 11 jurisdictions, the chapters identify the main elements of the constitutional gender order and survey jurisprudential and legislative developments in different areas, incorporating contextual analysis and references to history, political dynamics, social movements, feminist struggles, normative efficacy, and policy. In the context of a constitutionalism that has been celebrated as particularly innovative and socially engaged, the book assesses constitutional performance in the quest to supersede the separate gendered spheres tradition and the subordination of women and sexual minorities to heteronormative hegemony. It fills an important gap in the field of gender and constitutionalism, which has paid very little attention to Latin America compared to the Anglo-American legal world and continental Europe. It identifies regional trends, but also variables which account for the diversity of approaches in various jurisdictions. The book provides much-needed insight into matters that are relevant for legal and socio-legal scholars, an ever-growing number of social actors and movements, and all those interested in comparative constitutionalism and in the intersections between law and gender.

Book A Global Approach to the Gender Gap in Mathematical Computing and Natural Sciences

Download or read book A Global Approach to the Gender Gap in Mathematical Computing and Natural Sciences written by Colette Guillopé and published by . This book was released on 2020-06-06 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reports on a three-year project (2017-2019) funded by the International Science Council and involving eleven scientific partner organizations. The main goal of the project was to investigate the gender gap in STEM disciplines from different angles, globally and across disciplines. We have performed (i) a global survey of scientists with more than 32,000 responses; (ii) an investigation of the effect of gender in millions of scientific publications; and (iii) the compilation of best-practice initiatives that address the gender gap in Mathematical, Computing, and Natural Sciences at various levels. We conclude that the gender gap is very real in science and mathematics. We present methodologies, insights, and tools that have been developed throughout the project, as well as a set of recommendations for different audiences: instructors and parents; educational institutions; scientific unions and other organizations responsible for science policy.
