Ce lexique a été réalisé sur la base du premier ouvrage du genre, celui de Jacques Jomier. Le parler du Caire, lexique pratique français-arabe, publié par l’Ifao en 1976 et réédité en 1990. Au-delà de sa simple mise à jour, rendue nécessaire par l’évolution de la langue, on s’est attaché à étendre le vocabulaire couvert et à enrichir la liste des mots arabes correspondant aux différents sens d’un même terme français. Qatar University chose to support the growing academic interest and research in the field by hosting the Association Internationale de Dialectologie Arabe (AIDA) conference in 2013. The AIDA10 conference and the tenth volume of AIDA proceedings show that a good deal of change and development in the field is occurring. Fewer papers deal on hitherto unknown dialects as the white spots on the map of Arabic dialects have significantly shrunk. More papers focus on syntactical issues because we now possess more and larger text collections. Papers using "change" in their titles indicate that Arabic dialectology has a long history. This study represents the first critical examination of such "magical techniques," revealing their widespread appearance and pivotal significance for all Egyptian "religious" practices from the earliest periods through the Coptic era, influencing as well the Greco-Egyptian magical papyri. The author also discusses the "pagan-Egyptian" influence on Old and New Testament practices and in the lives of the Coptic Desert Fathers.
