Book The Gospel According to Matthew

Download or read book The Gospel According to Matthew written by and published by Canongate U.S.. This book was released on 1999 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The publication of the King James version of the Bible, translated between 1603 and 1611, coincided with an extraordinary flowering of English literature and is universally acknowledged as the greatest influence on English-language literature in history. Now, world-class literary writers introduce the book of the King James Bible in a series of beautifully designed, small-format volumes. The introducers' passionate, provocative, and personal engagements with the spirituality and the language of the text make the Bible come alive as a stunning work of literature and remind us of its overwhelming contemporary relevance.

Book Letting His Light Shine Through

Download or read book Letting His Light Shine Through written by Kalin Mallernee and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-10-07 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Letting His Light Shine Through: Confessions of a Wicked Man is a story of hope and redemption, as well as a call to arms. This book could also in ways be described as an instruction manual of sorts for new/young Christians. As we navigate through our Christian walk, we are going to have seasons of vast spiritual growth, change, and inevitable sorrow, shame, or grief. How we handle the latter will inevitably cause either more spiritual growth or cause us to lose focus on the Lord given our circumstances. At times it may feel as if you are just spinning your tires, but I assure you God is with you. He is refining you in the fire that you may become purified and as precious as gold. Trials are a given when it comes to growing spiritually; Peter, James, and Paul spoke of this (1 Pet. 5:10 NIV, Jas. 1:12 NIV, and 1 Cor. 10:13 NIV). I feel called to bring to light the need for transparency in Christian leadership and just as importantly in our personal relationships. The reason for this is quite simple; making our struggles, sin, and temptations transparent to others is encouraging. We don't have it all together and that's okay! We are all sinners, and I firmly believe that as followers of Christ we are to act that way. I'm not advocating in the name of sin. I'm advocating in the name of the one who bore our sin. What I've come to learn over the years, and it took many, is that "God never wanted perfect; he just wanted my heart" (Cory Asbury). Whether we like it or not, the world we live in views us as hypocrites. They see us as hateful, spiteful, and bigoted. Not very surprising given that many of us are. I know that stings a little, but that's because it's so true. I think if we spent more time focusing on sharing the good things God has done, is doing, and will do we could change the world. We all have opportunities in our own lives, workplaces, and communities to share the love of Jesus. But here's the thing; I believe that if we are more transparent with our real feelings, own sin, and the transforming love of Jesus, only then will the world see Christianity the way that we see Christianity.

Book excerpt: Ryan and Selena Frederick were newlyweds when they landed in Switzerland to pursue Selena's dream of training horses. Neither of them knew at the time that Ryan was living out a death sentence brought on by a worsening genetic heart defect. Soon it became clear he needed major surgery that could either save his life--or result in his death on the operating table. The young couple prepared for the worst. When Ryan survived, they both realized that they still had a future together. But the near loss changed the way they saw all that would lie ahead. They would live and love fiercely, fighting for each other and for a Christ-centered marriage, every step of the way. Fierce Marriage is their story, but more than that, it is a call for married couples to put God first in their relationship, to measure everything they do and say to each other against what Christ did for them, and to see marriage not just as a relationship they should try to keep healthy but also as one worth fighting for in every situation. With the gospel as their foundation, Ryan and Selena offer hope and practical help for common struggles in marriage, including communication problems, sexual frustration, financial stress, family tension, screen-time disconnection, and unrealistic expectations.

When we cry out to God, with all our heart, seeking what His will is for us – I Believe God Will Answer! “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV) I believe that we are all at some point in our lives, at the stepping stones of God’s will for us. I believe God has a plan for every one of us to utilize our gifts, given by Him, for His Glory. I believe the plans He has for us, are far greater than we could ever imagine; and that He is just waiting for us to say: “OK, I’m ready – I’ve tried it my way, and it’s not working. I desperately need You in my life! Please reveal to me what Your will is for my life. What is my purpose on this earth, and how do I fit into Your plan, for Your Kingdom?” Sherri is sharing now, her story of how God stepped into her life big time – with numerous poems/songs that she feels God has given to her, as well as some short stories behind them, and a few photos taken along the way – as she reminisces back through these moments in time, following her transition from ordinary days, to being in the middle of something that she feels God is calling her to.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2012 I began writing (and designing) short devotional pieces. We posted them on Instagram thinking that our friends and family would politely like them. But to our absolute shock, complete strangers liked them, too. A few years on, and here we are. I never dreamed that Pocket Fuel would turn into this practice and lead me to you. I'm forever grateful for it, no matter how rudimentary and humble our beginnings were. Not too long into our Instagram experiment, we found ourselves asking deeper questions around our faith. Everything we thought we knew; thought we had a handle on; thought was secure and for always; was challenged, questioned, and stripped bare. We experienced tragedy at home, and at work. We quit our jobs as Pastors, and started from scratch (faith and vocation) in our mid thirties. But through what felt like the death of all we thought we knew and would be, we found beauty and community. Our faith has a vibrancy that it was once devoid of. And our questions and doubts? I no-longer feel guilty for having them. They are an active part of my faith.

Book WORKING FOR GOD

    Book Details:
  • Author : Edward D. Andrews
  • Publisher : Christian Publishing House
  • Release : 2020-01-26
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 111 pages

Download or read book WORKING FOR GOD written by Edward D. Andrews and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2020-01-26 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE objective of WORKING FOR GOD is first of all to remind all Christian workers of the greatness and the glory of the work in which God gives a share. It is nothing less than that work of bringing men back to their God, at which God finds His highest glory and blessedness. As we see that it is God’s own work we have to work out, that He works it through us, that in our doing it His glory rests on us and we glorify Him, we shall count it our joy to give ourselves to live only and wholly for it. WORKING FOR GOD at the same time aims to help those who are laboring in vain, to find out what may be the cause of such struggles. God’s work must be done in God’s way and in God’s power. It is spiritual work, to be done by spiritual men and women, in the power of the Holy Spirit. The more precise our insight into God's Word, and the more complete our submission to God’s laws of work, the surer and the richer will be our joy and our reward in it. Along with this, WORKING FOR GOD can be a great help for those who have struggled in finding their part in the service of their Lord. Murray and Andrews seek to help ones understand that the chief characteristic of the Divine life in God and Christ is love and its work of blessing men. The Divine life in us can show itself in no other way. They have sought to show that it is God’s will that every believer without exception, whatever be his position in life, gives himself wholly to live and work for God. WORKING FOR GOD will also focus on teaching the imperative duty, the urgent need, the Divine blessedness of a life given to God’s service, and to waken within the consciousness of the power that works in them, even the Spirit and power of Christ Himself.
