Wellborn at the executive office in Milledgeville writes to Georgia Governor William Schley (1835-1837) on June 19, 1836 to update Schley on recent communications and transactions, particularly those related to arms shipments. Wellborn explains that he sent arms to Floyd and Walker counties and will send a shipment to Cherokee County shortly. He tells Schley that he responded to a letter from General Hemphill that pertained to Indians, but Wellborn believes that there is little danger imminent, except to citizens of the lower territory that borders Alabama. Colonel (Charles H.?) Nelson's position is discussed with regard to the end of what he refers to as "the Creek War" and the "difficulties with the Cherokees". Nelson reported to Wellborn that he heard of the ratification of a treaty (possibly the Treaty of New Echota, 1835) in the Forsyth Court House. This letter is related to a later letter tcc582 from Wellborn to Schley.

He indicates that General (Andrew) Jackson has marched on towards New Orleans, and most of the rest of the infantry, including parties of Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Creek Indians under the command of Major Blue, are proceeding for Apalachicola (Florida) in pursuit of the Red Stick Creeks and their allies. He also mentions information that a number of British ships have appeared at the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Mitchell, former governor of Georgia (1809-1813, 1815-1817) and acting agent to the Creek Indians, dated April 13, 1818. McIntosh reports on a recent military engagement with forces under Peter McQueen, a Red Stick Creek leader and transmits the number of casualties on both sides (probably associated with the First Seminole War, 1817-1818). McIntosh remarks on the bravery of both Indians and whites who fought alongside him and indicates that his troops have met with General Andrew Jackson in preparation for attacking unnamed "Negroes" on the Suwannee River. He also refers to a white woman recovered from the "hostile" Indians and asks Mitchell to send a copy of this letter to Big Warrior and Little Prince.

McCobb reports that the officers intend to recruit Negroes and Indians and arm them against the Americans. It is also reported that one officer had expressed the opinion that General (Andrew) Jackson committed "cruelties" on the Indians recently.
