Butts offers the use of his steam boat, called the Tomochichi, for transporting troops and supplies from Darien (McIntosh County, Georgia) to Florida, probably associated with the Second Seminole War, (1835-1842). Tomochichi was the name of an Yamacraw Indian in the Savannah area who negotiated with James Oglethorpe, founder of the colony of Georgia, and ultimately visited England with him. Butts tells the governor that if he wants to take advantage of this offer he should contact Agent John Rowland in Darien.

The slaves explained to the search party that the Creeks fled to Florida to join the Seminoles, intending to return for them at some point. Clark asks Schley's opinion of his decision to allow the men to claim the African family as "booty."

Burney asks the governor to relay this message to Colonel Floyd and to ask if any men from the 29th Regiment will indeed be necessary. He also assures Governor Schley that the people of Madison are in support of his actions regarding "Indian difficulties."

Jesup and others have returned from Florida. He suggests that the governor might want to attend the session on the Creek war.
