He goes on to tell the governor of the recent capture of an Indian and about 40 of his black allies, whom Jesup says have given him much information about both black and Indian leaders and their whereabouts. Jesup claims that, with the help of the requested new regiment, he may be able to end the war by mid-January. Jesup also claims that the Seminole War is really a "negro ... war" and not an Indian one, and it is therefore very important for the South that the war end as quickly as possible.
