Book excerpt: Rapist. Murderer. Pedophile. Church deacon. These are some of the words that characterize my father. From the age of seven to the age of eighteen, Lucinda Mills lived in fear of her father. The very man who was supposed to love and protect her was the one who robbed her of her innocence, making her the target of his sick perversions as he raped her repeatedly for over a decade. Years later Lucinda was still dealing with the aftermath of incest and abuse, her hatred toward her father and the baggage she carried affecting every aspect of her life-even her relationship with God, her Heavenly Father. In Let Yesterday Go: Finding Grace in the Midst of the Storm, she shares her heartrending story of survival, struggle, and ultimately triumph through love and forgiveness. Raw with emotion and honesty, this story is one that victims of all types of abuse can find hope in, discovering that it is possible to Let Yesterday Go.

Download or read book Ride a Westward Wind written by Marc Haws and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2021-04-05 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a fun-read western, but it is not pulp fiction. It’s a classic human conflict in a western setting, with serious philosophical issues. Think of “The Ox-Bow Incident,” the classic novel by Walter Van Tilburg Clark, but as readable as a Louis L’Amour western. A young man finds himself an outsider among the rough hands of a western ranch in Idaho during the Great Depression. An impassable rift between the kid and the cowboys happens on a scorching hot day in August, when men’s tempers are boiling. The kid’s working partner that day is violently killed when he impulsively and violently confronts a vagrant believed to be trespassing across the ranch. Critical events during the seconds leading to the cowboy’s violent death are not clear. Unable to save his friend, the kid rides for help and a posse forms. The kid believes the cowboy’s provocation led to his own death. But the ranch hands in the posse are convinced the tramp caused the death, so they insist on hanging him. Serious issues beset the kid and the ranch during the three difficult days after the death. The personal conflicts will be man-making for the young cowboy. The question is whether the posse will reflect and deal with its conflicts in a civilized way.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is your life spinning out of control? Do you sometimes wonder where God is? Here's the good news: even when your life and faith seem broken, God still loves you and wants you to enjoy a life full of blessings. Patricia Wilson, a motivational writer, spiritual guide, and mentor to women, offers a wise and lighthearted take on the serious business of maturing in faith. Her candid descriptions of contemporary life reveal the ways we lose touch with God. Then she shows us how to reconnect with God and stay close. "Sticking close to God is not as easy as I thought it would be," Wilson admits. "Not because God moved on to someone less difficult and demanding, but because I keep forgetting that my walk with God requires a conscious, daily decision. That's what this book is all about: how to consciously, daily stick close to God, even on those days and through those times when life comes unglued." Wilson's warmth and encouragement help you find a welcome dose of hope. No matter your situation, God can begin to work in you if you allow it.

Sometimes this bondage that they're experiencing is connected to internal struggles, such as depression, loneliness, fear, or complacency.
