Download or read book Methods of Shape preserving Spline Approximation written by Boris I. Kvasov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to develop algorithms of shape-preserving spline approximation for curves/surfaces with automatic choice of the tension parameters. The resulting curves/surfaces retain geometric properties of the initial data, such as positivity, monotonicity, convexity, linear and planar sections. The main tools used are generalized tension splines and B-splines. A difference method for constructing tension splines is also developed which permits one to avoid the computation of hyperbolic functions and provides other computational advantages. The algorithms of monotonizing parametrization described improve an adequate representation of the resulting shape-preserving curves/surfaces. Detailed descriptions of algorithms are given, with a strong emphasis on their computer implementation. These algorithms can be applied to solve many problems in computer-aided geometric design.

Download or read book Discrete Time Dynamics of Structured Populations and Homogeneous Order Preserving Operators written by Horst R. Thieme and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2024-05-07 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fundamental question in the theory of discrete and continuous-time population models concerns the conditions for the extinction or persistence of populations – a question that is addressed mathematically by persistence theory. For some time, it has been recognized that if the dynamics of a structured population are mathematically captured by continuous or discrete semiflows and if these semiflows have first-order approximations, the spectral radii of certain bounded linear positive operators (better known as basic reproduction numbers) act as thresholds between population extinction and persistence. This book combines the theory of discrete-time dynamical systems with applications to population dynamics with an emphasis on spatial structure. The inclusion of two sexes that must mate to produce offspring leads to the study of operators that are (positively) homogeneous (of degree one) and order-preserving rather than linear and positive. While this book offers an introduction to ordered normed vector spaces, some background in real and functional analysis (including some measure theory for a few chapters) will be helpful. The appendix and selected exercises provide a primer about basic concepts and about relevant topics one may not find in every analysis textbook.

Download or read book Partition Based Trapdoor Ciphers written by Arnaud Bannier and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2017-09-07 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Block encryption algorithms are now the most widely used cipher systems in the world to protect our communications and our data. Despite the fact that their design is open and public, there is absolutely no guarantee that there do not exist hidden features, at the mathematical design level, that could enable an attacker to break those systems in an operational way. Such features are called backdoors or trapdoors. The present book intends to address the feasibility of a particular class of such backdoors based on partitionning the plaintext and ciphertext message spaces. Going from the theory to the practical aspects, it is shown that mathematical backdoors in encryption systems are possible. This book, thus, intends to initiate a new field of research.

This book was released on 2021-10-08 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Power series provide a technique for constructing examples of commutative rings. In this book, the authors describe this technique and use it to analyse properties of commutative rings and their spectra. This book presents results obtained using this approach. The authors put these results in perspective; often the proofs of properties of classical examples are simplified. The book will serve as a helpful resource for researchers working in commutative algebra.
Download or read book Lipa s Legacy written by Józef Dodziuk and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1997 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mathematical works of Lars Ahlfors and Lipman Bers are fundamental and lasting. They have influenced and altered the development of twentieth century mathematics. The personalities of these two scientists helped create a mathematical family and have had a permanent positive effect on a whole generation of mathematicians. Their mathematical heritage continues to lead succeeding generations. In the fall of 1994, one year after Bers' death, some members of this family decided to inaugurate a series of conferences, "The Bers Colloquium", to be held every three years. The theme was to be a topic in the Ahlfors-Bers mathematical tradition, broadly interpreted. Ahlfors died a year after the first colloquium; future colloquia in this series will be called "The Ahlfors-Bers Colloquium". The first colloquium was held in October 1995 at the Graduate Center, CUNY in New York. It coincided roughly with the second anniversary of Ber's death. There were six lectures and much informal mathematical discussion. This volume contains papers by the speakers and many of the participants. The broad range of papers indicate how strong and far reaching Ber's influence has been. The topics represented in the book include Teichmuller theory, Kleinian groups, higher dimensional hyperbolic geometry, geometry of numbers, circle packings, theory of discrete groups, classical complex function theory, one dimensional dynamics, fluid dynamics, quasiconformal mappings in higher dimensions, partial differential equations, and classical algebraic geometry. partial
