Book Difficult Questions on Dinosaurs

Download or read book Difficult Questions on Dinosaurs written by Richard Pittack and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-07-01 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not the typical "Questions and Answers on Dinosaurs" book. It is not a book for children enabling them to find out the largest recorded dinosaur, to discover what dinosaurs ate or even how they managed to get up after nap time. An informative book on the biology and anatomy of the "mighty reptiles" - it is not. The series of questions in this treatise of answers has arisen from meetings conducted on dinosaurs. The questions have come from all kinds of people in various and sundry walks of life. Some of the questions were common and not much is to be learned from answers to such generalities However, some of the questions are not only posited by the curious but come from hearts filled with consternation while contemplating the subject of Theodicy. Did the Creator contribute heavily to the world's landscape of tooth and claw? Is the canvass of God's creation not only etched in blood but filled with the stench and smell emanating from the so-called Mesozoic Era of the past?

  • Pages : 356 pages

Download or read book Dinosaurs A Dirigible written by David Drake and published by Baen Publishing Enterprises. This book was released on 2014-08-16 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Henry Vickers's job is to keep clients safe from the dinosaurs they're hunting. That's the easy part. The hard part is to keep the clients safe from themselves and each other. Men with enough money to go into the past to hunt the largest land animals of all time are powerful and self-willed. Some make an effort to act like decent human beings, but more are selfish, stupid, sadistic--or all three together. The few women are likely to be worse. Vickers doesn't expect rich people to understand the dangers of where they are and what they're doing; he doesn't expect them to be competent with the powerful rifles they carry; and he particularly doesn't expect them to be reasonable. He treats his clients' behavior as he does the rain and the baking heat--the cost of having a life he loves and which he couldn't afford in any other way. But no matter how detached Vickers tries to be, eventually there are moral questions that he can't ignore. And when Henry Vickers starts to behave like a human being instead of a hunting guide, things get really dangerous. And in a complete change of pace: "Travellers." An airship is crossing the United States in 1897 in search of the weird and the wonderful. The two teenagers aboard know that the airship's captain is a great scientist and inventor--but they don't know how much more he is also. All five of David Drake's time travel stories collected for the first time. At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management).

Book Descriptions in Context

Download or read book Descriptions in Context written by Cleo A. Condoravdi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-11-18 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1997, this book focuses on the semantics of definite and indefinite descriptions — taking the presuppositional theory of definiteness and indefiniteness proposed by Heim as a starting point. It seeks to show that there exists a special type of indefinites that have an interpretation commonly associated with definites. It further argues that the felicity conditions associated with indefinite NP’s can vary and develops a more fine-grained theory of novelty within the framework of File Change Semantics. More generally, this work can be seen as providing an empirical argument in favour of a dynamic theory of meaning and against the more traditional truth-conditional theory.

Book Man Created God S

  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2018-08-13
  • ISBN : 1984538853

Download or read book Man Created God S written by Elias P. Stergakos Ph.D. and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-08-13 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The search to establish what is true and real regarding creation, life, and metaphysical states has tormented the human mind for millennia and has instigated many intense discussions. It was a brightly moonlit, star-studded sky when the heavenly bodies instigated a similar discussion between two friendsPotes and Mitsos, the two characters of this book. Potes is aware of the animosity that political and theological discussions could bring about, even between two good friends, whenever they have deep-rooted philosophical differences in those subjects; and he would rather not have them. However, he is not afraid to express his opinion when goaded. Mitsos, on the other hand, is persistent and adamant in his religious beliefs, traditions, and in the existence of Almighty God. In the dialogue between the two, Potes projects his convictions using scientific facts as well as quotations from the Bible while Mitsos, a good and faithful Christian, questions his friends position not only using theological philosophies and traditions that have stood the test of time but also using in defense of his position Crito by Plato and The Clouds by Aristophanes. None of the two characters of the book is a monolith. The comments or questions of one cause the other to think before he responds, and the combination of the two induce questions into the readers mind as to who of the two is correct. The conversation is bold and daring, considering the time period and the religious and social environment that prevailed when it assumingly took place. For Potes, the scientist, more than Mitsos, the religion teacher, no religious matter is considered taboo to be excluded from discussion and for its validity not to be examined. The dialogue does not delve into the rudimentary bases of the Christian religion only but also into, among other thigs, the Greco-Roman gods, the existence of the soul, the four related supernatural events (miracles, apotheosis, resurrection, and ascension), Genesis of the old testament versus cosmogenesis (the Big Bang theory), biopoiesis, cosmotheism, autocracy versus democracy, and not the least, the efficacy of hope. This is a book that demands an open mind.

Download or read book IT Crisisology Casebook written by Sergey V. Zykov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-03 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book focuses on the real-world case-based crisis management in digital product development. This includes forecasting, responding, and agile engineering/management methods, patterns, and practices for sustainable development. This book introduces a set of case studies for sustainability in management as a blend, the components of which have been carefully selected from a few domains adjacent to digital production such as IT-intensive operation, human resource management, and knowledge engineering, to name a few. The key ingredients of this crisis management framework include information management, tradeoff optimization, agile product development, and knowledge transfer. The case studies this book features will help the stakeholders in understanding and identifying the key technology, business, and human factors that may likely result in a digital production crisis, i.e., critically affect the organization outcomes in terms of successful digitalization and sustainable development. These factors are particularly important for the large-scale applications, typically considered very complex in managerial and technological aspects, and, therefore, specifically addressed by the discipline of IT crisisology.
