Book excerpt: 27-year-age gap? He makes me feel too good for it to be bad. I just want to make daddy, err my employer, happy. Duke is my boss; I shall not want. He maketh me lie down with wicked thoughts. He restoreth my faith in the male species: making up for all the groping, immature men my age, and he guides me down the path of being his good girl simply so he’ll smile at me. For now, that means serving breakfast at five a.m., but in my mind, there is more. So. Much. More. Yea, though I obsess about walking through the valley of sin, trying so hard, and failing, to remember the rules. He’s turning me into a thing I’ve never been — a people pleaser. I will fear no evil: for my smoking hot boss is with me. Twice my age... this could never work. Only, OH how I want his rod and his staff to comfort me, the much younger and not-so-innocent country girl with a sassy mouth that gets her into trouble. And he, a fifty-five-year-old cowboy with huge...hands. Now that I’ve had a taste of what it’s like to be with a real man, a man like my crush, my cup runneth over. I can never go back to the way things used to be. Pretending everything is innocent between us. I promised myself I’d focus on work and avoid the small-town gossip which hounds me like a tick on a dog. Only I can’t wait another minute to convince him I’m not as innocent as I seem. Then one day, after my fierce protector comes to my rescue, it seems the only dish being served up at his eatery... is me. ★This age-gap romance by USA Best Seller, Olivia Fox, includes a good girl who knows when to be bad, and is a stand-alone read. Transport yourself into the charming and magical town of Briarville and beyond. Follow these commanding, yet gentle heroes on their quests to find lasting love and naughtiness on the real-life Lost Coast of California. There is no age-play.★ If you like stories that make your stomach swoop and toes curl, scroll up and click to buy.

Book Healing Movements

Download or read book Healing Movements written by Megan S. Raschig and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2024-06-04 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How a grassroots abolitionist project of cultural healing counters the carceral state in a Chicanx community in California For many, gang involvement can be a guaranteed life sentence, a force which traps them in an inescapable cycle of violence even if it does not lead to actual prison time. Healing Movements explores the work of formerly gang-involved Chicanx men and women in California who draw on the social connections made during their gang-involved years to forge new pathways for cultural healing and countering the carceral system. Known colloquially as the “movement of healing,” this Chicanx-Indigenous abolitionist project based in Salinas, California, was spurred on by a series of four police homicides of Latino men in 2014. Organizing around such issues as police brutality and mass incarceration, these collectives—two of which are discussed in this book, one mixed-gender, and the other women-only—turned to their often obscured Mesoamerican ancestry to find new resources for building a different future for themselves and subsequent generations. Drawing on extensive fieldwork conducted in Salinas, Healing Movements reveals how these communities have taken shape in large part through a conscious effort to uplift Chicanx-Indigenous culture and ceremonial practices. By tapping into their Indigeneity, the members of these collectives access a wealth of new resources to shape their future, opening up novel ways to organize and build strong relational ties that are noteworthy to anyone invested in abolitionist work.

Book You Deserve a Drink

Download or read book You Deserve a Drink written by Mamrie Hart and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-05-26 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times bestselling, riotously funny collection of boozy misadventures from the creator of the YouTube series, “You Deserve a Drink.” Mamrie Hart is a drinking star with a Youtube problem. With over a million subscribers to her cult-hit video series “You Deserve a Drink,” Hart has been entertaining viewers with a combination of tasty libations and raunchy puns since 2011. Hart also co-wrote/co-starred in Dirty Thirty and Camp Takota with Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart. Finally, Hart has compiled her best drinking stories—and worst hangovers—into one hilarious volume. From the spring break where she and her girlfriends avoided tan lines by staying at an all-male gay nudist resort, to the bachelorette party where she accidentally hired a sixty-year-old meth head to teach the group pole dancing (not to mention the time she lit herself on fire during a Flaming Lips concert), Hart accompanies each story with an original cocktail recipe, ensuring that You Deserve a Drink is as educational as it is entertaining. With cameos from familiar friends from the YouTube scene and a foreword by Grace Helbig, this glimpse into Hart’s life brings warmth and humor to the woman fans know and love. And for readers who haven’t met Mamrie yet—take a warm-up shot and break out the cocktail shaker: you’re going to need a drink. “Hart is a pull-no-punches comedian with a talent for self-deprecation in the guise of self-aggrandizement, a winning formula.”—The New York Times
