Nous avons amélioré une méthode de numération des œufs de Taeniidés (triple flottation au sulfate de zinc), et y avons intégré une technique pour apprécier la viabilité (coloration au methyl tetrazolium). Les techniques pour évaluer la contamination du lisier devront être améliorées. Le risque de cysticercose semble nul pour les bovins, pour une attente de six semaines après l'épandage, par contre il est possible dans les épandages sans attente. Les hôtes inhabituels (ovins, lapins) qui rentreraient en contact avec ces pâtures, ne s'infestent pas. L'épandage de lisier de bovin conduit à une infestation faible des bovins et des ovins par des strongles digestifs.

Afin de retracer ce cheminement, elle s'articule autour de deux grandes parties qui visent à restituer la dynamique par laquelle, depuis les années 1970, la pratique d'épandage s'est progressivement constituée en « bonne solution » et imposée comme mode d'évacuation privilégié des boues urbaines avant de s'installer durablement comme « solution problème » instable et conflictuelle au plan local comme au plan national. Elle repose sur une série d'enquêtes qualitatives menée dans douze départements français et à l'échelle des organisations nationales concernées (600 entretiens).Structurée autour de deux dynamiques bien distinctes - l'institutionnalisation d'une solution d'un côté ; sa remise en cause de l'autre -, la thèse analyse cependant moins le surgissement d'une discontinuité nette et brutale dans une dynamique d'irréversibilisation que les mécanismes d'inscription dans une forme singulière de continuité. Le processus d'institutionnalisation se réinvente sans cesse sans jamais véritablement se figer dans des formes normalisées ou des jeux routiniers et sans que les débats qui s'ouvrent ne trouvent jamais de voie de sortie définitive ; mais l'instabilité structurelle qui caractérise la filière d'épandage ne génère pas non plus les effets de réversibilité attendus : vulnérable et contestable dans la durée, la solution n'en trouve pas moins le moyen de se renouveler continûment - plus, les ingrédients d'instabilité participent de la permanence de cette solution

However, the perception of onsite or decentralized sanitation technologies for urban areas is gradually changing, and is increasingly being considered as long-term, sustainable options in urban areas, especially in low- and middle-income countries that lack sewer infrastructures. This is the first book dedicated to faecal sludge management. It compiles the current state of knowledge of the rapidly evolving field of faecal sludge management, and presents an integrated approach that includes technology, management, and planning based on Sandecs 20 years of experience in the field.
