Au sein des algies faciales vasculaires, l’algie vasculaire de la face est relativement fréquente bien que largement sous-diagnostiquée. Mais aux frontières de l’algie vasculaire de la face, il existe un ensemble d’algies plus rares qui ont les caractéristiques d’une douleur vasculaire mais qui diffèrent de celles-ci par la fréquence, le profil évolutif, la sensibilité à certaines thérapeutiques et par la localisation anatomique. La prise en charge de la douleur repose en grande partie sur le diagnostic différentiel qui se révèle difficile, mais qui détermine la thérapeutique à mettre en oeuvre.
