Book Fluctuations et crises conomiques

Download or read book Fluctuations et crises conomiques written by Vincent Barou and published by Armand Colin. This book was released on 2015-10-07 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Les fluctuations internationales de 1890 nos jours written by Jean-François Vidal and published by FeniXX. This book was released on 1988-12-31T23:00:00+01:00 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Economic Cycles Crises and the Global Periphery

Download or read book Economic Cycles Crises and the Global Periphery written by Leonid Grinin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-25 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thought-provoking monograph analyzes long- medium- and short-term global cycles of prosperity, recession, and depression, plotting them against centuries of important world events. Major research on economic and political cycles is integrated to clarify evolving relationships between the global center and its periphery as well as current worldwide economic upheavals and potential future developments. Central to this survey are successive waves of industrial and, later, technological and cybernetic progress, leading to the current era of globalization and the changes of the roles of both Western powers and former minors players, however that will lead to the formation of the world order without a hegemon. Additionally, the authors predict what they term the Great Convergence, the lessening of inequities between the global core and the rest of the world, including the wealth gap between First and Third World nations. Among the topics in this ambitious volume: · Why politics is often omitted from economic analysis. · Why economic cycles are crucial to understanding the modern geopolitical landscape. · How the aging of the developed world will affect world technological and economic future.“/p> · The evolving technological forecast for Global North and South. · Where the U.S. is likely to stand on the future world stage. Economic Cycles, Crises, and the Global Periphery will inspire discussion and debate among sociologists, global economists, demographers, global historians, and futurologists. This expert knowledge is necessary for further research, proactive response, and preparedness for a new age of sociopolitical change.

Book The Long Wave in Economic Life

Download or read book The Long Wave in Economic Life written by J.J. Van Duijn and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-05 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all fluctuations in economic activity, the long wave or Kondratieff cycle is easily the most puzzling and least understood one. Does it really exist, and if so, is it only a cycle in prices or a cycle in economic activity at large? What causes it, and has it been confined to Europe or does it affect the world economy as a whole? These questions, which seemed of little relevance in the prosperous years of the postwar growth era, have gained new importance since 1973. With the downturn of the long wave, interest in it has enjoyed a revival, as it did in the 1930s. A great number of publications on the long wave have appeared since 1973, many of which have added to our insight of what causes the recurrent alternations of growth acceleration and retardation. This book is the first in the English language in which all important long wave theories, old as well as recent, are brought together. It focuses on the long wave as an international phenomenon, affecting all industrialised countries. It contains new theory as well as empirical evidence and in the final section suggests a number of policy recommendations to generate innovation. This book offers an interpretation of long-term economic development different from those commonly found in the literature. It will be of interest to students and scholars of the economics of growth and change, as well as to economic historians and policy-makers. This book was first published in 1983.

Book Les fluctuations conomiques

Download or read book Les fluctuations conomiques written by Bernard Landais and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Emile Durkheim

Download or read book Emile Durkheim written by Steven Lukes and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 1985 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study of Durkheim seeks to help the reader to achieve a historical understanding of his ideas and to form critical judgments about their value. To some extent these tow aims are contradictory. On the one hand, one seeks to understand: what did Durkheim really mean, how did he see the world, how did his ideas related to one another and how did they develop, how did they related to their biographical and historical context, how were they received, what influence did they have and to what criticism were they subjected, what was it like not to make certain distinctions, not to see certain errors, of fact or of logic, not to know what has subsequently become known? On the other hand, one seeks to assess: how valuable and how valid are the ideas, to what fruitful insights and explanations do they lead, how do they stand up to analysis and to the evidence, what is their present value? Yet it seems that it is only by inducing oneself not to see and only by seeing them that one can make a critical assessment. The only solution is to pursue both aims--seeing and not seeing--simultaneously. More particularly, this book has the primary object of achieving that sympathetic understanding without which no adequate critical assessment is possible. It is a study in intellectual history which is also intended as a contribution to sociological theory.
