Book Regards de femmes sur la globalisation

Download or read book Regards de femmes sur la globalisation written by Jeanne Bisilliat and published by KARTHALA Editions. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Women s Labor in the Global Economy

Download or read book Women s Labor in the Global Economy written by Sharon Harley and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2007-06-05 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalization is not a new phenomenon; women throughout the world have been dealing with the circumstances and consequences of an international economy long before the advent of the transnational corporate conglomerate. However, in a mercenary example of the tried clich "the more things change, the more they stay the same," women-particularly those of color-continue to be relegated to the lowest rung of the occupational ladder, where their indispensable contributions to global market capitalism are downplayed or invalidated completely through the perpetuation of stereotypes and the denial of access to better job opportunities and resources. How women of color around the world adapt and challenge the economic, political, and social effects of globalization is the subject of this broad-minded and incisive anthology. From Mexico, Jamaica, Ghana, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka, to immigrant and non-immigrant communities in the United States-the women documented in these essays are agricultural and factory workers, artists and entrepreneurs, mothers and activists. Their stories bear stark witness to how globalization continues to develop new sites and forms of exploitation, while its apparent victims continue to be women, men, and children of color.

Book Genre mondialisation et pauvret

Download or read book Genre mondialisation et pauvret written by Fenneke Reysoo and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2002 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Rapports de genre et mondialisation des march s written by Centre tricontinental (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Women Globalization and Fragmentation in the Developing World

Download or read book Women Globalization and Fragmentation in the Developing World written by H. Afshar and published by Palgrave Macmillan. This book was released on 1999-06-22 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of globalization has had a dramatic impact on the lives of women in developing countries in the past decade. They have been increasingly drawn into insecure flexible employment working for the world market. The feminisation of the labour market has increased the burdens on women, and the inability of men to access full-time well-remunerated employment has exacerbated the process of male out-migration and has left many families headed by women. At the same time the reduction in state services and welfare has increased the burdens placed on women. Nevertheless the consequences of globalization have been different for different women in different places. In some circumstances it has created opportunities for greater empowerment, whilst in others it has stimulated a reaction and increased the subordination of women. This book explores the experiences of women in diverse local contexts within different cultures and faiths, drawing on case studies from Asia, Africa and Latin America. It draws out the contradictory and fragmented impact of globalization at the local level on the lives of women in the developing world.

Download or read book Quand les femmes se heurtent la mondialisation written by Attac and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Female Entrepreneurship and Its Factors of Influence

Download or read book Female Entrepreneurship and Its Factors of Influence written by Melanie Keller and published by Grin Publishing. This book was released on 2015-07-24 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2013 in the subject Business economics - Company formation, Business Plans, Management Center Innsbruck, language: English, abstract: This paper starts with a definition of the term entrepreneurship and its relation to eco-nomic development in the second section. The third section is concerned with the elab-oration of women's motives and intentions as well as the challenges and constraints affecting their decision to engage in entrepreneurial activity. The penultimate section deals with the influence of macro-environmental factors on the emergence of women-owned enterprises. Finally, the last section discusses and summarizes the results. Due to the fact that entrepreneurship includes a huge variety of activities and undergoes constant change, many definitions are existent. Thus, entrepreneurship is nowadays seen as a dynamic process requiring energy and passion towards new ideas and crea-tive solutions. Entrepreneurs are supposed to take risks, while simultaneously identifying opportunities . However, not every entrepreneur has the possibility to recognize opportunities, as his or her entry into entrepreneurship is strongly depend-ent on the surrounding environment. Some entrepreneurs are indeed able to "respond to a perceived market opportunity. Others are forced into starting a business due to unfa-vorable circumstances" . Unfavorable circumstances are, for example, the unavailability of "appropriate paid employment in recessionary economic conditions."

Book La marchandisation de la gouvernance

Download or read book La marchandisation de la gouvernance written by Viviene Taylor and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2002 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book L entrepreneuriat f minin au S n gal written by Fatou Sarr and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 1998 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
