On ne sait pas exactement à quelle époque cette saga se déroule : apparemment, de façon décalée dans l’avenir par rapport à notre temps. L’intérêt du récit repose sur sa présentation. Il ne s’agit pas d’un roman construit selon les procédés habituels du genre. Dans la mesure où la production écrite s’est faite nuitamment pendant deux ans, il a fallu s’atteler à la tâche à l’ordinateur, en écrivant au fur et à mesure la production comme elle venait dans le désordre, puis le lendemain, la relire, poser les paragraphes, faire un plan en composant des titres de circonstance. Il en ressort un plan chronologique très linéaire. C’est bien l’auteur qui écrit, mais l’écriture est le résultat le plus fidèle possible de ce qu’auraient écrit les protagonistes eux-mêmes. Alain Rendu, retraité de fraîche date, à la suite d’une méningite et d’un coma, a, un an après son réveil et pendant deux ans, été en communication avec les personnages dont on suit les aventures dans cette saga. Il a été Professeur d’histoire-géographie en France et enseignant de français à l’étranger avant sa maladie, puis est retourné à Lyon, sa ville natale.
