Book Lenin and the Logic of Hegemony

Download or read book Lenin and the Logic of Hegemony written by Alan Shandro and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-07-10 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Lenin and the Logic of Hegemony, by means of a careful textual and contextual analysis of the writings of Lenin and his Marxist contemporaries, Alan Shandro traces the contours of the ‘(anti-) metaphysical event’ identified by Gramsci in Lenin’s political practice and theory, the emergence of the ‘philosophical fact’ of hegemony. In so doing, he effectively disputes conventional caricatures of Lenin’s role as a political actor and thinker and unearths the underlying parameters of the concept of hegemony in the class struggle. He thereby clarifies the conceptual status of this pervasive but now increasingly elusive notion and the logic of theory and practice at work in it.

Book Lenin and Trotsky What they really stood for

Download or read book Lenin and Trotsky What they really stood for written by Alan Woods and published by Wellred Books. This book was released on with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ideas of Lenin and Trotsky are without doubt the most distorted and slandered ideas in history. For more than 100 years, they have been subjected to an onslaught from the apologists of capitalism, who have attempted to present their ideas – Bolshevism – as both totalitarian and utopian. An entire industry was developed in an attempt to equate the crimes of Stalinism with the regime of workers' democracy that existed under Lenin and Trotsky. It is now more than fifty years since the publication of the first edition of this work. It was written as a reply to Monty Johnstone, who was a leading theoretician of the Communist Party of Great Britain. Johnstone had published a reappraisal of Leon Trotsky in the Young Communist League's journal Cogito at the end of 1968. Alan Woods and Ted Grant used the opportunity to write a detailed reply explaining the real relationship between the ideas of Lenin and Trotsky. This was no academic exercise. It was written as an appeal to the ranks of the Communist Party and the Young Communist League to rediscover the truth about Trotsky and return to the original revolutionary programme of Lenin. Also included in this new edition is Monty Johnstone's original Cogito article, as well as further material on Lenin's struggle with Stalin in the last month of his political life. The foreword is written by Trotsky's grandson, Vsievolod Volkov.

Book Foundations of Leninism

Download or read book Foundations of Leninism written by J. V. Stalin and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-11-29 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The foundations of Leninism is a big subject. To exhaust it a whole volume would be required. Indeed, a whole number of volumes would be required. Naturally, therefore, my lectures cannot be an exhaustive exposition of Leninism; at best they can only offer a concise synopsis of the foundations of Leninism. Nevertheless, I consider it useful to give this synopsis, in order to lay down some basic points of departure necessary for the successful study of Leninism. Lenin was a Marxist, and Marxism is, of course, the basis of his world outlook. But from this it does not at all follow that an exposition of Leninism ought to begin with an exposition of the foundations of Marxism. To expound Leninism means to expound the distinctive and new in the works of Lenin that Lenin contributed to the general treasury of Marxism and that is naturally connected with his name. Only in this sense will I speak in my lectures of the foundations of Leninism.

Book V I Lenin on Youth

Download or read book V I Lenin on Youth written by Vladimir Ilich Lenin and published by . This book was released on 2001-05-01 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lenin always paid great attention to the young generation of workers, peasants and intellectuals and laid emphasis on involving the largest possible number of them in the revolutionary movement, the struggle to build a new socialist society. Back in 1895, when he drew up the program of the Russian Social-Democratic Labor Party while in prison, he put forward the demand for universal suffrage for citizens at the age of 21 and over and for prohibition of employment of children under 15. While living in emigration on the eve of the first Russian revolution, Lenin closely followed the development of the students' movement in Tsarist Russia and in the pages of Iskra he stressed its importance for the general struggle of the Russian people against tsarism and called on the students to work out Marxist world outlook and actively assist the Social-Democrats in their illegal work. In August 1903, at the Second Congress of the Party, Lenin moved a resolution on the Social-Democrats' attitude towards students and made a speech on this question. Lenin did not confine himself to the youth movement in Russia only. As leader of the international proletariat, Lenin helped the young Social-Democrats of Switzerland, Sweden and other countries to arrive at a scientific world outlook and correct revolutionary tactics in the struggle against capitalism, passing on to them the experience of the Russian working class and its Party. The present collection includes Lenin's articles, speeches and letters on the youth, as well as those of his works which deal with problems facing the young generation. The various items in this collection are as a rule published in full, excerpts being used only when Lenin's statements on youth form part of his larger works.Lenin's works are distributed under the following heading: The Condition of Children and Young People under Capitalism, The Revolutionary Movement Among the Student Youth in Tsarist Russia, Participation of Young Workers and Peasants in the Revolutionary Struggle and Revolutionary Training of Youth and Participation of Youth in Socialist Construction - Education of the New Man.Vladimir Ilich Lenin (1870-1924) was the founder of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks), inspirer and leader of Bolshevik Revolution (1917), and the architect, builder, and first head (1917-24) of the Soviet State. He was the founder of the organization known as Comintern (Communist International) and the posthumous source of "Leninism," the doctrine codified and conjoined with Marx's works by Lenin's successors to form Marxism-Leninism, which became the Communist world view. If the Bolshevik Revolution is - as some people have called it - the most significant political event of the 20th century, then Lenin must for good or ill be regarded as the century's most significant political leader. Not only in the scholarly circles of the former Soviet Union but even among many non-Communist scholars, he has been regarded as the greatest revolutionary leader and revolutionary statesman in history, as well as the greatest revolutionary thinker since Marx.

Book Lenin s Political Thought

Download or read book Lenin s Political Thought written by Neil Harding and published by Haymarket Books. This book was released on 2009 with total page 754 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Caricatured as a superhuman idol in the former Communist states, the Russian revolutionary socialist V. I. Lenin has long been reversely caricatured in the West as an authoritarian elitist. In this brilliant, carefully researched analysis, Neil Harding upends these traditional Cold War interpretations of Lenin's thought and activity. Harding shows how Lenin's flexible and continuously changing theoretical, strategic, and tactical insights were firmly grounded in the emancipatory potential for working-class revolution in Russia and around the world. Neil Harding is an internationally renowned scholar of Soviet history.
