Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mobile Homes Act 2013 amends the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 ('the CSCDA 1960'), the Caravan Sites Act 1968 ('the CSA 1968') and the Mobile Homes Act 1983 ('the MHA 1983')It brings the licensing regime that applies to mobile home sites in England under the CSCDA 1960 more closely in line with other local authority licensing regimes and also includes a power to enable the Secretary of State to introduce by way of secondary legislation a "fit and proper" person requirement for managers of sites. The Bill amends section 3 of the CSA 1968 by extending the scope of the offences under that section. It amends the MHA 1983 by removing the requirement for site owners to approve a purchaser of a mobile home (or a person to whom a mobile home has been gifted) and makes new provisions instead for sales , gifts and assignments under the MHA 1983It also introduces new requirements about site rules and provides a framework for better transparency on pitch fee reviews.

Book Means of Escape from Fire

Download or read book Means of Escape from Fire written by M. J. Billington and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-15 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The provision of an adequate means of escape from fire is fundamental to the design of new buildings and to the alteration, change of use or extension of existing buildings. It is essential that means of escape are considered at the earliest stage of a project as mistakes are very expensive to correct later in the design. There is a great deal of legislation on means of escape design and control, but this is scattered throughout a large number of statutes, regulations and guidance documents. Many buildings need to be licensed and/or registered, as well as requiring certification and Building Regulation compliance. This book provides an invaluable reference on the subject for architects, surveyors and building control officers. It: ? identifies the legislation which applies to any particular building use ? describes the general principles of designing means of escape, together with a ten step approach for a range of residential and non-residential buildings ? considers alternative design options based on fire safety engineering ? outlines fire safety management in premises in use as an aid to employers, who have a statutory duty to undertake fire risk assessments.

Book The Ogallala Road

Download or read book The Ogallala Road written by Julene Bair and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-08-04 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A memoir of love and reckoning. A story of love, family, and the fight to keep the great plains from running dry. Julene Bair has inherited part of a farming empire and fallen in love with a rancher from Kansas's beautiful Smoky Valley. She means to create a family, provide her son with the father he longs for, and preserve the Bair farm for the next generation, honoring her own father's wish and commandment, 'Hang on to your land!' But part of her legacy is a share of the ecological harm the Bair Farm has done: each growing season her family--like other irrigators--pumps over two hundred million gallons out of the Ogallala aquifer. The rapidly disappearing aquifer is the sole source of water on the vast western plains, and her family's role in its depletion haunts her. As traditional ways of life collide with industrial realities, Bair must dramatically change course.

Book Architecture for the Dead Cairo s Medieval Necropolis

Download or read book Architecture for the Dead Cairo s Medieval Necropolis written by Galila El Kadi and published by American Univ in Cairo Press. This book was released on 2007 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The great medieval necropolis of Cairo, comprising two main areas that together stretch twelve kilometers from north to south, constitutes a major feature of the city's urban landscape. With monumental and smaller-scale mausolea dating from all eras since early medieval times, and boasting some of the finest examples of Mamluk architecture not just in the city but in the region, the necropolis is an unparalleled--and until now largely undocumented--architectural treasure trove. In Architecture for the Dead, architect Galila El Kadi and photographer Alain Bonnamy have produced a comprehensive and visually stunning survey of all areas of the necropolis. Through detailed and painstaking research and remarkable photography, in text, maps, plans, and pictures, they describe and illustrate the astonishing variety of architectural styles in the necropolis: from Mamluk to neo-Mamluk via baroque and neo-pharaonic, from the grandest stone buildings with their decorative domes and minarets to the humblest--but elaborately decorated--wooden structures. The book also documents the modern settlement of the necropolis by families creating a space for the living in and among the tombs and architecture for the dead.
