Book excerpt: *Includes historic art depicting some of the prophets. *Explains the Jewish and Christian traditions of prophets and prophecy. *Includes a Bibliography for further reading. "and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." - Deuteronomy 18:18 A lot of ink has been spilled covering the lives of history's most influential figures, but how much of the forest is lost for the trees? In Charles River Editors" Legends of the Bible series, readers can get caught up to speed on the lives of the Bible's most important men and women in the time it takes to finish a commute, while learning interesting facts long forgotten or never known. The belief in prophets is as old as religion itself. Throughout several millennia, cultures across the world have attributed special significance (and sometimes great power) to those who they believed spoke to their gods, from the Ancient Greeks to followers of Zoroastrianism. The tradition of prophets is especially prevalent in Judaism and Christianity, with prophets like Isaiah and Jeremiah being among the most famous historical figures in the Bible. The Talmud labels nearly 50 people as prophets, the New Testament offers up many more like the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist, and other ancient texts claimed there were thousands. In addition to interpreting and sharing the word of God with the people, ancient prophets also served a variety of different roles in the Bible. God had prophets like Ezekiel and Jeremiah perform symbolic acts that foretold future events, particularly hardships that the Israelites suffered at the hands of the Babylonians and Egyptians. The abilities of the prophets to predict future events have become the primary ways in which contemporary society remembers them, which has ensured that the term prophet (which meant spokesman in Hebrew) is now part of the lexicon and means something far different than the ancient definitions. People are familiar with the concept of prophecy, but who were the prophets, where did they come from, what did they wear, and how did they prophesy? Legends of the Bible: Prophets and Prophecy in Ancient Israel and the Middle East discusses the history, stories, and Scripture passages about the prophets, examining the Bible and the historical record to piece together an understanding of how prophets and prophecy worked in the ancient Middle East. Along with pictures and a bibliography, you will learn about the prophets like you never have before, in no time at all.

Book Kremansk Prophecy

Download or read book Kremansk Prophecy written by Dragoljub Golubovic and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2003-03-04 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The intent and purpose of this book is to successfully gather and present the authentic messages of the two Kremansk prophets, Milosh and Mitar Tarabic, as they told them. Born in a remote mountain village of Kremno, beneath the mountain Tara, these two humble illiterate peasants had practically no elementary knowledge of history or geography. They were nevertheless able to foretell all the important events occurring in the nineteenth century during which they lived, as well as events not occurring until the twentieth century. They also had messages pertaining to the events that are yet to happen in the distant future. They didn't speak in riddles as other prophets did. They never made it a dilemma about what would happen, or even when or how. Their messages were timely, precise and chronologically correct. The Tarabics received their messages from an unknown source. Their Godfather, the priest, Zachary Zacharic, preserved them by writing them down. The process was long and tedious and it took years to gather them. The manuscripts had originally been hidden and were finally uncovered and compiled by Father Zachary's grandson, Dejan Malenkovic with whose help this book was finally written. Even though this book deals with unusual and fascinating events, the authors are not attempting to explain them, nor are they discussing man's secret and unusual, supernatural knowledge. As non-scientists we are not capable of explaining something that mankind has not been able to explain since the age of antiquity. We just wrote what we found and time will tell whether a phenomenon scientifically unexplainable is also nonexistent.

Book excerpt: The story occurs across the worlds of Legends and Earth connected by a stargate or portal that is activated by a medallion. There are battles which take place on both worlds. Aiden is the main hero in this story. He is the leader of a team of heroes and has an unseen potential of power. Aiden is aided by different characters from either world. The characters from Earth are human, except for an android/robot, and the characters on Legends are different types of magical/powerful creatures. Each character has their own personality and some are quite humorous. Legends is a magical world enabled by gemstones that give Druids and Mystics power. Evos are a creature on Legends that have the ability to absorb energy from pockets in the world and charge up or replenish the energy in gemstones like a battery. Druids and Mystics wield the gems in their weapons. The world also contains many magical animals who either hinder or help the heroes. On Earth, Aiden must save his family, and on Legends Aiden must save the princess, Priya. Furthermore, the Prophecy of Heroes is one of three prophecies, and it foretells that Aiden and the other heroes must save both worlds. The story starts in a battle where Aiden has been captured and can't remember what has happened. He has many flashbacks and eventually remembers he's there with the other heroes to save Priya. Aiden then escapes. The heroes fight their way against evil creatures and a sorcerer and his Nywolves (which are giant wolves) until they come to a cavern full of devilish-looking creatures, and the main enemy, Magus. Magus performs a sacrificial ritual on Priya to reincarnate the dark queen. He activates his powers and shoots a lightning bolt at Priya. The heroes try to save her and the readers are left in anticipation, as the story stops there and flashes back to a time when Aiden was on Earth. The story progresses entirely from there back to the same point in time in the cavern. Aiden actually fights Magus initially on Earth trying to save his family and performs miraculous superpowers. Magus then flees back to Legends. Aiden follows him through the portal, undetected, and ends up in a magical world with magical creatures. He makes many friends in this new world and learns he's the King's son. He also learns of the prophecy, which states he is destined to save both worlds. Magus then attacks the castle with his army, and the heroes must fight them off. After surviving Magus's attack, Aiden and his friends set foot on an adventure.. Aiden's friends consist of: Jack, an eight-foot giant or Grandar, Cedric and Gil, who are Hairies or four foot tall hairy agile creatures, Melia and Borak, who are strong human-like Roaks, Farley, an Evo or three-foot magical creature that can absorb the world's energy, and Priya, who is the princess of Heirstone and a magical Druidess. During their journey, the Heroes of Legends come across the magical Druid village of Druidia. In this village, Priya meets her real mother after years apart. The heroes gain allies and continue on their voyage until they find Magus's castle. The story then shows an alternate side of what was happening at the story's beginning when Aiden was captured and continues from other characters' perspectives to where it left off in the cavern. Ultimately, Magus is able to reincarnate Herana, the dark queen, and there is a huge magical battle with an evil army of thousands. At one point during the battle, Herana reveals a surprise to the readers that was unknown. An earthquake occurs, and the heroes try to survive. The story concludes with the characters who helped Aiden on Earth appearing in search of Aiden to tell him Earth is under attack again. This is the first book in a trilogy.

Book excerpt: NB: THIS BOOK WAS PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED AS 'WHERE HOPE DARES'.'I don't know where to begin in praising this book - there is so much that is good about it. It is a post-apocalypse saga of epic proportions. Worthy of the mistresses of the genre, Margaret Attwood and Ursula LeGuin, the story and the world Rebecca Bryn has created is utterly convincing.' Review - Frank Parker author of Strongbow's Wife. A prophecy, a sacrifice, and a truth that is more terrifying than the legend. The Child of Prohecy is set in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco at some time between the Great Flood and the Second Coming. Kiya is a village healer and her husband, Raphel, is a storyteller, keeping alive the oral traditions of their people. Life is peaceful, ordered, happy, and the most excitement they have is regular visits from Abe, an itinerent peddler who trades across the mountains with his mule, Moses.Abe, however, is not what he seems, and though he has Kiya and Raphel's best interests at heart, he has a secret agendum laid down by a long-dead pope that is sometimes at war with his love for his friends. He has dedicated his long life to watching over the village where Kiya lives, but why? What is it he's not telling her?All goes horribly wrong when a pagan, war-hungry cult from the northern side of the mountains descend with arson, rape, and slaughter on their minds, and an ancient prophecy to fulfil. Kiya is kidnapped and forced north over the mountains, but what has the prophecy to do with Kiya? Does Abe know?Alaric, one of the barbaric Northmen, sees Kiya as the legendary 'Gift' of prophecy he's been sent to find, and he rapes and kidnaps her and forces her north over the mountains, leaving Raphel for dead amid the burning ruins of his village.Raphel lives and determines to set off in search of Kiya, his only aids hope, love, and a headful of stories. Abe goes with him, but his reasons for this aren't quite what they seem, and he will find his allegiencies sorely tested. That the chase on foot across the mountains in winter will be hard and long is not in doubt, or that the sea voyage will be fraught with danger, or the trek across the desert under a burning sun less deadly than that of their ancestors who fled persecution from East Africa. That gentle Raphel will have to use every ounce of his knowledge, wit, compassion, forgiveness, and courage to rescue his wife, is certain, but who will prove to be his friend and who his foe, and what is this prophecy by which the Northmen set so much store? Why is it so important that they will kill and risk their own deaths to fulfil it - and can such an ancient prophecy be trusted?
