Book Reading Between the Lines

Download or read book Reading Between the Lines written by Emma Bache and published by . This book was released on 2019-06-11 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handwriting is something of a dying art nowadays, as we tap messages to each other day after day. But handwriting analysis can divulge everything from a person's timidity to their ambition, from their desire to please to their need to control. In fact, so revealing is your writing that in Japan all CVs are still written by hand. This book shows you how to judge someone's handwriting as a whole and how to examine it in detail. Because every aspect of penmanship - the height of an 'h', the curliness of a 'g', the pressure of the pen on the paper - is a collection of signals that we are giving out without meaning to. The way we write can tell the world a huge amount; sometimes more than the things we write about. Our handwriting exposes how we interact with the world and the people around us, and also how we cope with stress and express emotions. It can help us make choices for our future, showing us what our desires are, and even what jobs and partners may suit us best. Using real-life examples, including celebrity samples, you will be challenged to put your new-found knowledge to the test. By the end of the book you will have amassed a wealth of knowledge that will help you understand human nature - including your own - in all its colours.

Book Remembering the Kanji 2

Download or read book Remembering the Kanji 2 written by James W. Heisig and published by University of Hawaii Press. This book was released on 2012-04-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the first volume of Remembering the Kanji, the present work provides students with helpful tools for learning the pronunciation of the kanji. Behind the notorious inconsistencies in the way the Japanese language has come to pronounce the characters it received from China lie several coherent patterns. Identifying these patterns and arranging them in logical order can reduce dramatically the amount of time spent in the brute memorization of sounds unrelated to written forms. Many of the “primitive elements,” or building blocks, used in the drawing of the characters also serve to indicate the “Chinese reading” that particular kanji use, chiefly in compound terms. By learning one of the kanji that uses such a “signal primitive,” one can learn the entire group at the same time. In this way, Remembering the Kanji 2 lays out the varieties of phonetic pattern and offers helpful hints for learning readings, that might otherwise appear completely random, in an efficient and rational way. Individual frames cross-reference the kanji to alternate readings and to the frame in volume 1 in which the meaning and writing of the kanji was first introduced. A parallel system of pronouncing the kanji, their “Japanese readings,” uses native Japanese words assigned to particular Chinese characters. Although these are more easily learned because of the association of the meaning to a single word, the author creates a kind of phonetic alphabet of single syllable words, each connected to a simple Japanese word, and shows how they can be combined to help memorize particularly troublesome vocabulary. The 4th edition has been updated to include the 196 new kanji approved by the government in 2010 as “general-use” kanji.

Book Left Hand Cursive How To Write Artistically With Your Left Hand

Download or read book Left Hand Cursive How To Write Artistically With Your Left Hand written by Derek Schuger and published by . This book was released on 2020-10-18 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Euclid, a Greek thinker and mathematician, once said, "Handwriting is a spiritual designing, even though it appears by means of a material instrument." Handwriting does shape one's vision and reflect one's aesthetic views. Unlike typing on a keyboard, you have no control of subtle ink details when the screen displays the preformed letters. Handwriting manifests your personality and harmonizes your writing with your mood. Every stokes you created on a piece of the medium, paper, chalkboard, or touch screen, matches your identity precisely. Once the handwriting is elevated to the creation levels, calligraphy and lettering, it becomes the process of meditation. It calms you down, let you focus, and immerse you into a solitude state. You may see this book as your starting point of training on calligraphy and lettering, even if you don't want to be an artist. Learning lettering and calligraphy will subconsciously influence your behavior, lifestyle, and work habits. It's the creativities and aesthetic taste stimulated by the sense of art that does the trick. See the graceful designs of Apple products, Macs, iPhones, and iPads. Tech icon Steve Jobs recalled at his famous 2005 commencement address at Stanford University that Palladino's calligraphy class he took at Reed College inspired ultimately the elegance for which Apple computers are renowned. He had three courses at Reed College before dropping out of college. Calligraphy, Dance, and Shakespea. Calligraphy is the cornerstone of Lettering. This cursive font is designed for writing left-handed. It's neat, legible, and artistically formed.
