Download or read book Sustainable Lighting Lighting for Sustainability written by MDPI and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-01-08 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The role of lighting is developing into a topic considered alongside sustainable development. Some years ago, lighting installations fulfilled technical requirements and consumed only enough energy for the accurate completion of visual tasks. This recently changed due to several discoveries in the matter of non-visual paths, whose influence on users' well-being, safety, mood, and productivity is starting to be applied to installations. Today, we know that sustainable development depends on many factors but we are only now beginning to understand how accurate lighting can be used to promote development from different perspectives. The present book compiles work dealing with the way lighting installations must be designed to work in an efficient and sustainable way, together with the way lighting can be used to contribute to sustainable development beyond the well-know savings in energy, green-house gas emissions, and raw materials consumption. The union of both concepts, sustainable lighting and lighting for sustainability is what is call "total lighting", the global framework with which the lighting community will work in the near future.
Download or read book Code of Practice for the Application of LED Lighting Systems written by The Institution of Engineering and Technology and published by Iet Codes and Guidance. Book excerpt: LED lighting is a fast-developing technology that is becoming more popular as people begin to realise the advantages it provides, such as energy efficiency, controllability and longevity. However, poor quality installation of LED lighting systems could negate these advantages and result in inadequate lighting, failure to meet lifetime performance expectations, potential public health and safety issues or even interference with other technology due to poor systems integration. This Code of Practice has been developed to provide confidence to users as a minimum standard for LED lighting systems installation, as well as to serve as a useful reference on the application of LED lighting systems.

Download or read book Energy Security written by Nikolai Mouraviev and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-17 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses energy policy within the framework of the expansion of renewable energy sources (RES) and increasing resource use efficiency. In this book, the term ‘resource efficiency’ is defined as deriving the most value from resource inputs related to energy production, while incorporating energy efficiency. The authors highlight the drivers, policy approaches, governance issues and management problems related to the reduction of dependency on fossil fuels by focusing on RES and resource efficiency. Mouraviev and Koulori argue that enhancing energy security requires a new approach, integrating two core components: the emphasis on increasing energy production from renewable sources and resource use efficiency, which forms a contrast to the traditional understanding of energy security as security of supply. Blending theory with practice using several case studies, this original book provides a novel conceptualisation of energy security that will be of interest and value to practitioners and policy makers as well as scholars and researchers.
