Book excerpt: Many people know they need to "get their affairs in order," but few know what that means, much less how to do it. "Leaving Lightly: Getting Your Affairs in Order So All You Leave Behind is Love" is a simple yet comprehensive guide for creating a process to put your affairs in order. The book concentrates on four subject areas: recording personal and financial information, creating health care and legal documents, deciding postmortem care, and digitally recording personal stories and family history. The book travels lightly and, where appropriate, humorously through often scary terrain. Interspersed throughout the book are anecdotes of people who planned ahead and people who didn't, and the effect these actions had on those they loved. Because of the many options available in end-of-life and postmortem care, the knowledge contained in Leaving Lightly will assist you in becoming a savvy consumer, potentially saving hundreds or thousands of dollars. But perhaps one of the greatest gifts of Leaving Lightly is peace of mind for the person charged with cleaning up your affairs. Armed with the knowledge of what you do and do not want in your end of life care, your Clean Up Person will be able to quickly and efficiently carry out your wishes. Making sure that information is decided and recorded before it is needed is the purpose behind Leaving Lightly.

Download or read book World of Chessboard written by Yi JiuQianShang and published by Funstory. This book was released on 2020-05-27 with total page 831 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is like a play, young master Qing Yi. What was distinct in black and white was the chess game; what was indistinct was the human heart. Chess is difficult to decide, step by step, one wrong move, all lost. He was gentle and refined, drunk and free from worldly strife; he wore an open and upright robe, his reputation as a man of the world was just like smoke passing through his eyes; he lowered his eyebrows and gave a slight smile. He was playful, dashing, and elegant; he had a fan in his hand; it was common for people to fight openly or secretly, and they would look down on him with their heads held high. It was originally a different life, yet it became a straight line that led to a completely different end point. Was he going to be reborn from the flames? When the chessboard was no longer black and white, when every single chess piece was imbued with the hearts of the people, vividly displaying the word "chess", the chessboard would no longer be a chessboard, but a formidable game. Download or read book Guts Glory Hunter written by Jeanne St. James and published by Double-J Romance, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-07-11 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a simple assignment becomes a whole lot more... For Hunter, what should be an easy job of finding another veteran’s long-lost brother has turned up nothing but dead ends. Even worse, it uncovered problems his team thought had long since been buried. Down to his last lead, he tracks down a woman who has his protective instincts kicking in for reasons he can’t fully understand. While her expressive dark eyes and generous curves catch his attention, it’s her fiery temper that holds it. Back in her hometown, hiding from a man who almost destroyed her life, Frankie’s thrown off guard when a bossy bearded stranger shows up looking for information on the biker she’d rather forget. And he’s not taking no for an answer. With more to protect than herself now, she knows firsthand what can happen when you place your trust in the wrong person, but something about the former Green Beret has her not only letting him into her home but also her heart. Hunter’s determined to complete his mission and keep Frankie safe—no matter the cost. Though he didn’t expect that cost to also involve his heart. Note: Hunter is the third book of the In the Shadows Security series, a six-book spin-off from my Dirty Angels MC series. While it’s recommended to read both series in order, each book can be read as a stand-alone. As with all my books, this has an HEA, no cliffhanger or cheating.

Download or read book Traveler Response to Transportation System Changes written by and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2012 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From a transportation and community perspective, objectives of pedestrian and bicycle facility improvements have evolved to include numerous aspects of providing viable and safe active transportation options for all ages, abilities, and socioeconomic groups. Pedestrian and bicycle facilities appear overall to benefit the full spectrum of society perhaps more broadly than any other provision of transportation. A challenge in non-motorized transportation (NMT) benefit analysis is to adequately account for all the different forms in which pedestrian and bicycle facilities provide benefit. In this report, new as well as synthesized research is presented. This chapter examines pedestrian and bicyclist behavior and travel demand outcomes in a relatively broad sense. It covers traveler response to NMT facilities both in isolation and as part of the total urban fabric, along with the effects of associated programs and promotion. It looks not only at transportation outcomes, but also recreational and public health outcomes. This chapter focuses on the travel behavior and public health implications of pedestrian/bicycle areawide systems; NMT-link facilities such as sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and on-transit accommodation of bicycles; and node-specific facilities such as street-crossing treatments, bicycle parking, and showers. Discussion of the implications of pedestrian and bicycle "friendly" neighborhoods, policies, programs, and promotion is also incorporated. The public health effects coverage of this chapter, and associated treatment of walking and bicycling and schoolchild travel as key aspects of active living, have been greatly facilitated by participation in the project by the National Center for Environmental Health--part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This pivotal CDC involvement has included supplemental financial support for the Chapter 16 work effort. It has also encompassed assistance with research sources and questions, and draft chapter reviews by individual CDC staff members in parallel with TCRP Project B-12A Panel member reviews (see "Chapter 16 Author and Contributor Acknowledgments". TCRP Report 95: Chapter 16, Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities will be of interest to transit, transportation, and land use planning practitioners; public health professionals and transportation engineers; land developers, employers, and school administrators; researchers and educators; and professionals across a broad spectrum of transportation, planning, and public health agencies; MPOs; and local, state, and federal government agencies. This chapter is complemented by illustrative photographs provided as a "Photo Gallery" at the conclusion of the report. In addition, PowerPoint slides of the photographs in full color are available on the TRB website at http://www.trb.org/Main/Blurbs/167122.aspx.
