Book Essentials of Computer Organization and Architecture

Download or read book Essentials of Computer Organization and Architecture written by Linda Null and published by Jones & Bartlett Publishers. This book was released on 2014-02-17 with total page 913 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In its fourth edition, this book focuses on real-world examples and practical applications and encourages students to develop a "big-picture" understanding of how essential organization and architecture concepts are applied in the computing world. In addition to direct correlation with the ACM/IEEE CS2013 guidelines for computer organization and architecture, the text exposes readers to the inner workings of a modern digital computer through an integrated presentation of fundamental concepts and principles. It includes the most up-to-the-minute data and resources available and reflects current technologies, including tablets and cloud computing. All-new exercises, expanded discussions, and feature boxes in every chapter implement even more real-world applications and current data, and many chapters include all-new examples. --

Book formZ Joint Study Report 2004 05

Download or read book formZ Joint Study Report 2004 05 written by Chris Yessios and published by auto•des*sys, Inc.. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Material published in this edition is compiled by Dr. Chris Yessios. While no attempt was made to group the articles, since each is quite unique, they can be viewed under a number of thematic categories. There are at least 7 articles that deal more or less directly with the use of digital tools for the generation of innovative forms. Another 8 articles present specific building designs and 5 more present specific urban design schemes. The common denominator for all is the use of the digital tools to create forms that are distinctly different from traditional forms. A group of some 6 papers specifically discusses and compares digital versus analogue methodologies. In all cases, the former are more persuasive. Fabrication or computer aided manufacturing (CAM) is represented by at least 3 papers, while hints of digital fabrication can be found in a number of other papers as well. 6 articles are directly concerned with education: either the theoretical ties of digital design to “ancient principals” or how to de- velop particular skills. The only paper from a high school elaborates on this topic. Finally, there are 5 articles that cannot be grouped with the above categories but would fit in a category possibly labeled “miscellaneous theories.” For example, “Transforming Habit” and “Interpreting Babel” would belong to such a category.

This book was released on 2018-02-23 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As architectural designs continue to push boundaries, there is more exploration into the bound shape of architecture within the limits of spaces made for human usability and interaction. The Handbook of Research on Form and Morphogenesis in Modern Architectural Contexts provides emerging research on the process of architectural form-finding as an effort to balance perceptive efficiency with functionality. While highlighting topics such as architectural geometry, reverse modeling, and digital fabrication, this book details the geometric process that forms the shape of a building. This publication is a vital resource for scholars, IT professionals, engineers, architects, and business managers seeking current research on the development and creation of architectural design.

Book Ways to Study and Research Urban Architectural and Technical Design

Download or read book Ways to Study and Research Urban Architectural and Technical Design written by T.M. de Jong and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2002 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can we develop a scientific basis for architectural, urban and technical design? When can a design be labelled as scientific output, comparable with a scientific report? What are the similarities and dis-similarities between design and empirical research, and between design research, typological research, design study and study by design? Is there a need for a particular methodology for design driven study and research? With these questions in mind, more than forty members of the Faculty of Architecture of the Delft University of Technology have described their ways of study and research. Each chapter shows the objectives, the methodology and its implementation in search for a deeper knowledge of design processes and an optimal quality of the design itself. The authors - among them architects, urban planners, social scientists, lawyers, technicians and information scientists – have widely differing backgrounds. Nevertheless, they share a great deal. The central focus is a better understanding of design processes, design tools and the effects of design interventions on issues such as utility, aesthetics meaning, sustainability and feasibility.

Book Statistical Foundations of Actuarial Learning and its Applications

Download or read book Statistical Foundations of Actuarial Learning and its Applications written by Mario V. Wüthrich and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-22 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book discusses the statistical modeling of insurance problems, a process which comprises data collection, data analysis and statistical model building to forecast insured events that may happen in the future. It presents the mathematical foundations behind these fundamental statistical concepts and how they can be applied in daily actuarial practice. Statistical modeling has a wide range of applications, and, depending on the application, the theoretical aspects may be weighted differently: here the main focus is on prediction rather than explanation. Starting with a presentation of state-of-the-art actuarial models, such as generalized linear models, the book then dives into modern machine learning tools such as neural networks and text recognition to improve predictive modeling with complex features. Providing practitioners with detailed guidance on how to apply machine learning methods to real-world data sets, and how to interpret the results without losing sight of the mathematical assumptions on which these methods are based, the book can serve as a modern basis for an actuarial education syllabus.

  • Pages : 562 pages

Download or read book Machine Learning written by Marco Gori and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 562 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Machine Learning: A Constraint-Based Approach, Second Edition provides readers with a refreshing look at the basic models and algorithms of machine learning, with an emphasis on current topics of interest that include neural networks and kernel machines. The book presents the information in a truly unified manner that is based on the notion of learning from environmental constraints. It draws a path towards deep integration with machine learning that relies on the idea of adopting multivalued logic formalisms, such as in fuzzy systems. Special attention is given to deep learning, which nicely fits the constrained-based approach followed in this book. The book presents a simpler unified notion of regularization, which is strictly connected with the parsimony principle, including many solved exercises that are classified according to the Donald Knuth ranking of difficulty, which essentially consists of a mix of warm-up exercises that lead to deeper research problems. A software simulator is also included. Presents, in a unified manner, fundamental machine learning concepts, such as neural networks and kernel machines Provides in-depth coverage of unsupervised and semi-supervised learning, with new content in hot growth areas such as deep learning Includes a software simulator for kernel machines and learning from constraints that also covers exercises to facilitate learning Contains hundreds of solved examples and exercises chosen particularly for their progression of difficulty from simple to complex Supported by a free, downloadable companion book designed to facilitate students’ acquisition of experimental skills
