Book excerpt: Colin Nicholson, student, jack-of-all-subjects and master of only one—English—has nothing much going for him. His widowed mother spends more of her time auditioning for roles in plays and low-budget cable movies than providing decent guardianship. His one solace is the movies, and when a girl named Leanna steps out of the screen one day, claiming that a maniac is chasing her and she needs his help, Colin has no choice but to go along with her, especially when his best friend is blown away by the maniac called Nails. Leanna is from another futuristic Earth, one with interdimensional capability, and Nails and others are after that technology, as she’s the only one who knows the secret behind it. Colin’s journey with her begins, and their travels range from going to other Earths to a Hell Earth, to a beautiful but deadly beach world. Along the way, Colin figures out that there’s more to the story than meets the eye, and instead of running from their attackers, he and Leanna decide to do their own investigating and meet the attackers head-on. Meeting them head-on seems suicidal. If he and Leanna lose, then the fate of Earth—all Earths—may end up in the hands of a madman. However, Colin’s mantra is rule or drool. In real terms, it means fight or die. And if it comes to that, he intends to go down swinging.

Septuagenarian librarian Cleo Watkins believes in gracious manners, sweet tea, and justice—library justice. For over forty years, Cleo has tried every trick in the book to get delinquent patron Dixie Huddleston to return the most overdue volume in Catalpa Springs, Georgia. When Dixie says she’ll finally relinquish the book, Cleo is shocked. She’s even more startled by the reason: superstitious Dixie says she’s seen the signs: she’s about to die and is setting her affairs in order. Cleo dismisses Dixie’s ominous omens...until she and her gentleman friend, Henry Lafayette, arrive at Dixie’s home to find her dead. Cleo suspects murder. The police agree but promptly list Cleo among the likely culprits. To clear her good name and deliver justice, Cleo uses her librarian skills to investigate, with Henry and her trusty bookmobile cat, Rhett Butler, at her side. However, the killer has opened a new chapter of terror. Death threats appear around town, and residents start seeing bad luck everywhere, including in Cleo and her beloved bookmobile Words on Wheels. With her bookmobile and legacy on the line, Cleo accelerates her sleuthing. Suspects and clues stack up, but so does the danger. Another death is coming due, and Cleo fears the killer may be about to turn the final page on someone she loves most.

The ethereal denizens of New York owe a great debt to Eve Whitby, the young medium who leads an all-female team of spiritualists in the police department’s Ghost Precinct. But now Eve faces an enemy determined to exorcise the city’s ghostly population once and for all. Albert Prenze is supposed to be dead. Instead he is very much alive, having assumed the identity of his twin brother Alfred, and taken control of the family’s dubiously acquired fortune. Book Stormed

Download or read book Stormed written by Lisa Gillis and published by Rock Star Reads. This book was released on 2015-03-17 with total page 872 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jack Who? Perfect Storms Jack Storm is more than a tour bus bang. He's a secret to keep at all costs--except one. Marissa is a craps dealer, and in one quick second she never wants to remember, her life turns to crap. Her best friend convinces her the cure for a breakup is a hookup, and reluctantly, she heeds this advice. However, Jack (what was his name again?) is not the average girl's revenge fling. Women throw themselves at Jack, toss their lingerie on the stage, and scream his name. Marissa has no idea of his public identity, and while she doesn't initially throw herself at him, she does go on to toss aside her lingerie and ultimately scream his name. Five minutes after parting, she holds no illusions about seeing him again, but does vow a new outlook on her life and herself. Five months later, Jack astounds her with an invitation to Los Angeles. Although Jack is now a star in her very non rock star fantasies, Marissa is concealing a huge secret that prevents her from accepting. Five years later, the secret comes out, and despite the conflicting emotions each feels toward the other, they must bridge their two worlds together. Jack Who? is a one night stand gone awry, and a couple who work together years later for a fix. Weathering Jack Storm Falling in love with Jack was easy, but there is nothing easy about staying in love with this arrogant rock star while settling into a new life in Los Angeles. The epic story of Jack and Marissa continues. Marissa and Tristan in his life changed his outlook. Jack feels needed. He welcomes the responsibility of a family. He embraces the love and companionship. Quickly, he whisks his son and the intriguing woman he had never forgotten to his home in LA. To Marissa, her future seems as mysterious as dusk’s shimmering shadows beneath the surface of the luxurious guitar shaped pool. There is no doubt this could be her dream house, her dream life with the man she loves. Not so dreamy is all she is beginning to see packaged with him. The crazy hours of a very active life. The garbage behind the glam. Mostly, a moody and presumptuous rock star whose public persona is opposite of the sweet celebrity she fell for. Snow Storms : A Wish on a Rock Star It all begins with one wrong wish on a star – a ROCK STAR. Jackal has retired but their fan base lives on. Jack and Marissa are still a super couple who see very little peace in public. Ready to live incog, they contemplate a move to Dallas—roots of the Loren family tree, and home of the family label. Christmas is coming, and Jack Junior is not the only one with a wish list. The Jackal fan site once had a Holiday tradition of indulging five lucky fans with a Christmas wish. This year, a fan manages to contact Jack with a very special wish. A wish that unearths a scandal Jack tried to leave in his past. When history begins repeating itself, he finds that the past is always a part of the present. But with one brightly wrapped present, will this particular part of his past forever change his future? To complicate matters, this Holiday Season, Marissa is hiding more than Christmas presents. For starters, her complicated relationship with Jack’s sister reaches a new level of craziness. Also, simmering beneath a Christmas colored surface is a psycho situation she cannot see coming. Jack and Marissa have always had a rocky relationship. Yet again, they have to stand strong. Book excerpt: This is both the lightest and the darkest Angel novel. The love scenes are sweet, poignant, and steamy, but there are infinitely more painful scenes which will wrench your heart. The crescendo of the book is reached nearly two hundred pages before the conclusion, and the emotions and intellect of the reader will be challenged on every page. More than the other two novels, Ghostlier Demarcations has mutliple chapters from the perspectives of Maggie, Wanda, and the unbelievable Rose. Their love for Angel and their other, new loves, are rendered completely from their points of view. This novel should come with a ‘hotness’ warning....

The rest of the book comes from the active imagination of the author. The author had ideas for the novel for years but decided to put his ideas on paper after the death of an uncle in 2007. The Divine Miracle has many elements including comedy, drama, action and adventure. This is the first book in a four part series.
