"Si tu crois pouvoir passer outre mon humanité, si tu la regardes de haut, de plus haut tu la regarderas, de plus haut tu tomberas. Si tu veux atteindre le but que tu poursuis, mon humanité en sera le chemin, et ma Passion, la porte". Chef-d'oeuvre de la piété affective médiévale, Le petit livre de la Sagesse éternelle fut en son temps un des livres les plus lus, avant l'extraordinaire diffusion de l'Imitation de Jésus-Christ, dont il fut l'une des sources.
