Download or read book Le p re ducateur du jeune enfant written by Jean Le Camus and published by Presses Universitaires de France. This book was released on 1999 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Border crossing in Education written by Joëlle Droux and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Border-crossing in Education comprises a series of case studies covering a variety of cultural areas, in order to reveal the density of connections and exchanges that inform educational practices, policies, and systems. It attaches particular importance to individual and collective actors that govern these flows – initiating, promoting, or reconfiguring transfers of policy models. The contributors explore various aspects of the circulatory mechanisms that have been deployed in the field of education during the modern and contemporary period. Varying the observation scales, from local to international, they demonstrate the multilateral character of the circulatory dynamics observed. The implementation of rich and varied approaches to these complex processes offers a perspective that complements and renews our knowledge of the genesis and evolution of educational policies and systems, most notably highlighting their foreign inspirations. However, these studies do not merely evoke borrowings and hybridization, as if national borders proved porous or non-existent. Instead they show that the phenomena of resistance, reinterpretation, and rejection are also an integral part of transnational mechanisms of exchanges. The book thus demonstrates the relevance of a historical approach in addressing these transnational mechanisms in the field of education and childhood policy. This book was originally published as a special issue of Paedagogica Historica.

Download or read book Making Men Making History written by Peter Gossage and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-01 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What has it meant to be a man in Canada? Alexander Ross, fur trader; Percy Nobbs, architect, fisherman, fencer; Andy Paull, residential school survivor and athlete; Yves Charbonneau, jazz musician and commune member; “James,” black and gay in postwar Windsor. Who were these men, and how did they identify as masculine? Populated with figures both well known and unknown, Making Men, Making History frames masculinity as a socially and historically constructed category of identity, susceptible to variation across time, place, and social context. This examination of historical Canadian masculinities reveals the dissonance between hegemonic ideals of manhood and masculinity and the everyday lives of men and boys. The volume showcases some of the best new work in masculinity studies. With an introduction that contextualizes the international origins of the field, Making Men, Making History is the first book to explore these themes entirely in Canadian historica settings.
Download or read book Entrepreneurs Et Entreprises en Qu te de Normes written by Maud Saint-Lary and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2009 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Abnormal written by Michel Foucault and published by Picador. This book was released on 2007-04-01 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From 1971 until his death in 1984, Foucault gave public lectures at the world-famous College de France. Attended by thousands, these were seminal events in the world of French letters. Picador is proud to be publishing the lectures in thirteen volumes. The lectures comprising Abnormal begin by examining the role of psychiatry in modern criminal justice, and its method of categorizing individuals who "resemble their crime before they commit it." Building on the themes of societal self-defense in "Society Must Be Defended," Foucault shows how and why defining "abnormality" and "normality" were prerogatives of power in the nineteenth century. The College de France lectures add immeasurably to our appreciation of Foucault's work and offer a unique window into his thinking.
Download or read book Education et culture dans l Occident m di val written by Pierre Riché and published by Routledge. This book was released on 1993 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second collection of articles by Pierre Riché is concerned with the cultural history of Western Europe in the early Middle Ages, from the end of Antiquity up to the 11th century. Their particular concern is the history of education, notably intellectual education in the monastic and episcopal schools that existed before the rise of the university. The first papers deal with the transition from the Roman to the medieval period and with the Carolingian renaissance of intellectual activity, and are followed by a section focusing on the works of Gerbert of Aurillac. The following articles study the techniques and theory of teaching, as well as attitudes towards childhood.
