Download or read book Paysage linguistique et Enseignement des langues au Maghreb written by Michel Quitout and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2007-11-01 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Transcontinental Maghreb

Download or read book The Transcontinental Maghreb written by Edwige Tamalet Talbayev and published by Fordham Univ Press. This book was released on 2017-10-24 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The writer Gabriel Audisio once called the Mediterranean a “liquid continent.” Taking up the challenge issued by Audisio’s phrase, Edwige Tamalet Talbayev insists that we understand the region on both sides of the Mediterranean through a “transcontinental” heuristic. Rather than merely read the Maghreb in the context of its European colonizers from across the Mediterranean, Talbayev compellingly argues for a transmaritime deployment of the Maghreb across the multiple Mediterranean sites to which it has been materially and culturally bound for millennia. The Transcontinental Maghreb reveals these Mediterranean imaginaries to intersect with Maghrebi claims to an inclusive, democratic national ideal yet to be realized. Through a sustained reflection on allegory and critical melancholia, the book shows how the Mediterranean decenters postcolonial nation-building projects and mediates the nomadic subject’s reinsertion into a national collective respectful of heterogeneity. In engaging the space of the sea, the hybridity it produces, and the way it has shaped such historical dynamics as globalization, imperialism, decolonization, and nationalism, the book rethinks the very nature of postcolonial histories and identities along its shores.

Download or read book L arabisation et le fran ais au Maroc written by Asma Ettajani and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 1456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Cambridge Introduction to Francophone Literature

Download or read book The Cambridge Introduction to Francophone Literature written by Patrick Corcoran and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2007-10-25 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The literature of French-speaking countries forms a distinct body of work quite separate from literature written in France itself, offering a passionate creative engagement with their postcolonial cultures. This book provides an introduction to the literatures that have emerged in the French-speaking countries and regions of the world in recent decades, illustrating their astonishing breadth and diversity, and exploring their constant state of tension with the literature of France. The study opens with a wide-ranging discussion of the idea of francophonie. Each chapter then provides readers with historical background to a particular region and identifies the key issues that have influenced the emergence of a literature in French, before going on to examine in detail a selection of the major writers. These case studies tackle many of the key authors of the francophone world, as well as authors writing today.

Download or read book L enseignement du fran ais au Maroc written by Fadoua Benabdellah and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

  • Release : 2002

  • Pages : 184 pages

Download or read book Maghreb divers written by Alek Baylee Toumi and published by Peter Lang Incorporated, International Academic Publishers. This book was released on 2002 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Studies in French Applied Linguistics

Download or read book Studies in French Applied Linguistics written by Dalila Ayoun and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2008-10-29 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies in French Applied Linguistics invites the reader to adopt a broad perspective on applied linguistics, illustrating the fascinating multifaceted work researchers are conducted in so many various, inter-connected subfields. The five chapters of the first part are dedicated to the first and second language acquisition of French in various settings: First language acquisition by normal children from a generative perspective and by children with Specific Language Impairment; second language acquisition in Canadian immersion settings, from a neurolinguistic approach to phonology and natural language processing and CALL. The six chapters of the second part explore the contribution of French in various subfields of applied linguistics such as an anthropological approach to literacy issues in Guadeloupean Kréyòl, literacy issues in new technologies, phonological and lexical innovations in the banlieues, French in North Africa, language planning and policy in Quebec, as well as the emerging field of forensic linguistics from an historical perspective.

Book Manual of Romance Languages in Africa

Download or read book Manual of Romance Languages in Africa written by Ursula Reutner and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-12-18 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With more than two thousand languages spread over its territory, multilingualism is a common reality in Africa. The main official languages of most African countries are Indo-European, in many instances Romance. As they were primarily brought to Africa in the era of colonization, the areas discussed in this volume are thirty-five states that were once ruled by Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal, or Spain, and the African regions still belonging to three of them. Twenty-six states are presented in relation to French, four to Italian, six to Portuguese, and two to Spanish. They are considered in separate chapters according to their sociolinguistic situation, linguistic history, external language policy, linguistic characteristics, and internal language policy. The result is a comprehensive overview of the Romance languages in modern-day Africa. It follows a coherent structure, offers linguistic and sociolinguistic information, and illustrates language contact situations, power relations, as well as the cross-fertilization and mutual enrichment emerging from the interplay of languages and cultures in Africa.
