Download or read book International Handbook of Cooperative Law written by Dante Cracogna and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-12 with total page 813 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The degree of development reached by cooperatives of different sectors throughout the world, which among others led to the UN declaring 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives, needs to be accompanied by a similar development of corresponding legislation. To this end, a better knowledge of cooperative law from the comparative point of view, as has already been established for other types of enterprises, becomes of great importance. This book strives to fill this gap, and is divided into four parts. The first part offers an analytic and conceptual framework with which to understand, study and assess cooperative law from a transnational and comparative perspective. The second part includes several chapters dealing with attempts to harmonize cooperative laws. The third part contains an overview of more than 30 national cooperative laws, while the last part summarizes and compares these national cooperative laws, thus laying the foundation for a comparative cooperative law doctrine.
Download or read book The Agricultural Cooperative in the Framework of the European Cooperative Society written by Georg Miribung and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-04-09 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book assesses the Statute for a European Cooperative Society (SCE) regarding agricultural activities by comparing how specific questions arising in this context must be dealt with under the Italian and Austrian legal systems. In this regard, Council Regulation (EC) No. 1435/2003, of 22 July 2003, on the Statute for a European Cooperative Society (SCE), is used as a tool for the structured analysis of various aspects of agricultural cooperatives. However, a comparison is only meaningful if the results are made comparable on the basis of a previously defined standard. Accordingly, the study uses, on one hand, a cooperative model developed by European legal scholars that defines general guidelines on how cooperatives should function (PECOL). On the other, the results are presented in connection with economic considerations to discuss how efficient rules can be developed.

The original pattern of the book remains unchanged: Two questions are answered for each of the identified principles: What is the meaning of this co-operative principle? How is this principle translated into co-operative legislation? In this newest edition, two additional questions are discussed and answered for each of the chapters: What are the new development trends and what are the new rules in co-operative legislation? (Series: Economy: Research and Science / Wirtschaft: Forschung und Wissenschaft - Vol. 34) [Subject: Co-operative Law]

Download or read book Droit des soci t s commerciales et coop ratives dans l espace OHADA written by Denis Pohé and published by Bruylant. This book was released on 2020-01-13 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Professionalisation of family farming written by Etobe, J.M. and published by CTA. This book was released on 2015-09-04 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the FAO, IFAD and the WFP, 805 million people in the world – one person in nine – suffer from hunger. Humanity has the means to put an end to hunger, but the key will be to invest in family farming to ‘feed the world by producing more and better with less means’. This in turn requires the creation of strong, representative and well-structured farmers’ organisations, which can defend the interests of family farming. Mainly directed at stakeholders in rural development in sub-Saharan Africa, this timely guide aims to contribute to the creation of proper, professional farmers’ organisations through the implementation of technical and organisational capacity-building tools. With the provision of numerous examples, tables and tips for success, it covers topics such as measuring management capacity, strengthening organisational and technical capability, and developing support tools for the umbrella organisation. With these organisations better able to deliver professional services to members, farmers can be recognised as stakeholders in their own right. This will put them in a better position to address the nutrition, socioeconomic and environmental challenges currently faced by society.

Download or read book Private International Law written by Symeon C. Symeonides and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-11-08 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book compares the two golden ages of private international law (PIL): the first is the era of Story and Savigny in the nineteenth century, while the second comprises the last fifty years. The period between 1970 and 2020 has been one of rapid changes and dense legislative responses, exemplified by the adoption of over one hundred national PIL codifications and almost as many international or regional conventions and regulations. These instruments provide a rich source for this book’s incisive and instructive comparisons and a fertile ground for a reliable assessment of the progress of PIL as a discipline. This book skillfully uncovers and meticulously documents the gradual—and largely unnoticed—transition of PIL from the idealism of the nineteenth century to the pragmatic eclecticism and pluralism of the twenty-first century.
