Book excerpt: Intéressés par le phénomène de contact de langues, champ de recherche de notre travail doctoral, nous nous sommes proposés d'étudier le contact linguistique entre l'arabe marocain et le français. Lorsque nous parlons de contact de langues, nous ne pouvons pas évoquer uniquement les langues, il nous faut également aborder la société, les individus qui la composent et qui y évoluent, avec des cultures différentes amenées à y être confrontées. Pour mener à bien ce travail sur le contact des deux langues, notre recherche a été orientée vers la composante linguistique et sociolinguistique, en ayant comme outil de travail un corpus recueilli auprès de locuteurs dans un lieu donné, la ville de Kenitra au Maroc. Par cette étude, nous espérons avoir contribué à décrire et tenter d'expliquer certains phénomènes linguistiques qui naissent de ce contact langagier entre l'arabe marocain et le français chez des enseignants marocains de la langue française. Nous avons évoqué successivement, à travers notre recherche, les contextes historiques et sociaux ainsi que leurs impact s sur les langues en présence au Maroc ou l'arabe moderne, l'arabe marocain, le berbère et le français coexistent. Nous avons également présenté une analyse sociolinguistique de notre sujet de recherche en abordant certains aspects historiques de 'enseignement du français au Maroc, en présentant nos informateurs et les différents types d'enseignement qu'ils ont suivi et enfin en analysant les facteurs situations de production des deux langues et sujets de discussion. Et enfin, dans un troisième temps, nous avons analyse notre sujet d'un point de vue lexical en traitant du discours mélange et du phénomène del'emprunt en essayant de comprendre le mécanisme de fonctionnement de ces deux phénomènes dans la pratique du bilinguisme franco-arabe marocain

In addition, Thickening Fat explores the full range of intersectional and liminal analyses that push beyond the simple addition of two or more subjectivities, looking instead at the complex alchemy of layered and unstable markers of difference and privilege. Cognizant that the concept of intersectionality has been filled out in a plurality of ways, Thickening Fat poses critical questions around how to render analysis of fatness intersectional and to thicken up intersectionality, where intersectionality is attenuated to the shifting and composite and material dimensions to identity, rather than reduced to an “add difference and stir” approach. The chapters in this collection ask what happens when we operationalize intersectionality in fat scholarship and politics, and we position difference at the centre and start of inquiry.
