Gabriel Milin (1822-1895), né à Saint-Pol-de-Léon, agent comptable au port de Brest, écrivain, poète, philologue, traducteur d’œuvres classiques en breton. Il fut également maire de l’Île de Batz. Amable-Emmanuel Troude (1803-1885), né à Brest, militaire de carrière (colonel), lexicographe, écrivain et folkloriste. Il travaille en collaboration avec Gabriel Milin sur plusieurs ouvrages de vulgarisation en breton. On lui doit également un Dictionnaire français et celto-breton et un Nouveau dictionnaire pratique breton-français du dialecte de Léon.
