This book was released on 1997 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume describes current understanding of the impacts that climate change and variability will have on all aspects of the Northwest Territories/Nunavut physical & biological environment and its socio-economic activities, and of existing or potential adaptation options. The initial sections review the region's socio-economic context, ecozones, and climate, and describe various scenarios of climate change as determined from global climate change models. Section D assesses impacts of and adaptation to climate change in the physical environment (hydrology, permafrost, sea ice, sea level & coastal processes, freshwater ice), in terrestrial & marine ecosystems, and in such socio-economic sectors as oil & gas, transportation, construction, tourism, forestry, and fisheries. The final section discusses opportunities for further research.

Book Holocene Proxy climate Data from the Canadian Arctic

Download or read book Holocene Proxy climate Data from the Canadian Arctic written by Lynn Ovenden and published by Energy Mines and Resources Canada. This book was released on 1988 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quaternary studies by the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) have produced data on the biological, geomorphological, and glacial history of Canada. Some of the climatically significant discoveries have not become general knowledge, as indicated by their omission from literature reviews and bibliographies. This review of GSC reports and publications is an attempt to make some of its proxy-climate data more accessible. In this review, only data of Holocene age from the Northwest Territories and Yukon Territory are considered, using such phenomena indicative of climate change as vascular plant range extensions, eolian deposition, peat accumulation, and thermokarst and thaw. The report includes a compilation of these data types, comments on their relationship to climate, and concludes with some general thoughts on the nature of proxy-climate data.

This book was released on 2019-03-04 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Data Models and Analysis

Download or read book Data Models and Analysis written by Guoqi Han and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-09 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the ten most cited articles that have appeared in the journal Atmosphere-Ocean since 1995. These articles cover a wide range of topics in meteorology, climatology and oceanography. Modelling work is represented in five papers, covering global climate model development; a cumulus parameterization scheme for global climate models; development of a regional forecast modelling system and parameterization of peatland hydraulic processes for climate models. Data rehabilitation and compilation in order to support trend analysis work on comprehensive precipitation and temperature data sets is presented in four papers. Field studies are represented by a paper on the circumpolar lead system. While the modelling studies are global in their application and applicability, the data analysis and field study papers cover environments that are specifically, but not uniquely, Canadian. This book will be of interest to researchers, students and professionals in the various sub-fields of meteorology, oceanography and climate science.
