Book Les centres sociaux

Download or read book Les centres sociaux written by Maryse Bresson and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2002 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Community Regeneration Masterplan

Download or read book Community Regeneration Masterplan written by Francesco Manfredi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reports on a large research project on community regeneration, which integrated the spatial, social, economic and organizational factors with the dimensions of sustainability, resilience and participation. Upon providing a detailed review on concepts of community and urban regeneration, it analyses a set of successful case studies from 30 European cities, which were selected by the authors from different rankings and awards. Fifty-seven key performance indicators and the results of self-assessment questionnaires are here introduced to allow a comparative study of best practices and eventually to outline 20 guidelines and 100 strategic actions for future community regeneration projects. All in all, this book offers extensive information and a source of inspiration for urban planners, economists, sociologists, public administrators, stakeholders and all those involved in the development and management of sustainable cities.

Book Architecture and Participation

Download or read book Architecture and Participation written by Peter Blundell Jones and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together leading international practitioners and theorists in the field, ranging from the 1960s pioneers of participation to some of the major contemporary figures in the field, Architecture and Participation opens up the social and political aspects of our built environment, and the way that the eventual users may shape it. Divided into three sections, looking at the politics, histories and practices of participation, the book gives both a broad theoretical background and more direct examples of participation in practice. Respectively the book explores participation's broader context, outlining key themes and including work from some seminal European figures and shows examples of how leading practitioners have put their ideas into action. Illustrated throughout, the authors present to students, practitioners and policy makers an exploration of how a participative approach may lead to new spatial conditions, as well as to new types of architectural practices, and investigates the way that the user has been included in the design process.

Download or read book Innovatory Social Policies in the City written by European Committee for Social Cohesion and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1997, a group of experts was asked by the European Committee for Social Cohesion to carry out a detailed study, in order to identify projects throughout Europe which were examples of good practice regarding the development of urban social policies. The group, called the Group of Specialists on Innovatory Social Policies in the City (PS-S-INNO), included representatives of national, regional and local administrative bodies, as well as academics. This first volume of the publication is in two sections: the first part considers the challenges of innovatory social policies in the city environment; the second part contains an analysis of the projects submitted and explains the methodology used. Recommendations made include: the role of local authorities should be strengthened, as part of a bottom-up approach to local initiatives and innovatory projects; central and federal authorities must be better equipped to function as catalysts; and that networks for inter-project and inter-city co-operation should be established.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urban Mobility Systems in the World provides insight into the geographical organization of urban mobility systems around the world. Adopting a comparative approach, the book highlights the geographical diversity of mobility systems, based on case studies from Africa, North and South America, Asia and Europe. This multi-disciplinary book is organized into twelve chapters, divided into four parts. The first part gives an overview of urban mobility, and then examines the factors that determine everyday mobility in cities, revealing different travel practices among populations (poor, elderly and children). Parts 2 and 3, respectively, focus on urban public transport (trains, metros, minibuses) and active modes of transport (walking, cycling), and the related infrastructure policies. The final section examines the circulation of urban mobility analysis tools and public policy models
