Book LATIN 2004 Theoretical Informatics

Download or read book LATIN 2004 Theoretical Informatics written by Martin Farach-Colton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-03-19 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the Latin American Theoretical Inf- matics (LATIN) conference that was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, April 5–8, 2004. The LATIN series of symposia was launched in 1992 to foster interactions between the Latin American community and computer scientists around the world. This was the sixth event in the series, following S ̃ ao Paulo, Brazil (1992), Valparaiso, Chile (1995), Campinas, Brazil (1998), Punta del Este, Uruguay (2000), and Cancun, Mexico (2002). The proceedings of these conferences were also published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series: Volumes 583, 911, 1380, 1776, and 2286, respectively. Also, as before, we published a selection of the papers in a special issue of a prestigious journal. We received 178 submissions. Each paper was assigned to four program c- mittee members, and 59 papers were selected. This was 80% more than the previous record for the number of submissions. We feel lucky to have been able to build on the solid foundation provided by the increasingly successful previous LATINs. And we are very grateful for the tireless work of Pablo Mart ́ ?nez L ́ opez, the Local Arrangements Chair. Finally, we thank Springer-Verlag for publishing these proceedings in its LNCS series.

Book Universal Routing Strategies for Interconnection Networks

Download or read book Universal Routing Strategies for Interconnection Networks written by Christian Scheideler and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-06-08 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the history and state of the art of universal routing strategies, which can be applied to networks independently of their respective topologies. It opens with a self-contained introduction, accessible also to newcomers. The main original results are new universal network protocols for store-and-forward and wormhole routing with small buffers or without buffers; these results are presented in detail and their potential applications are discussed. The book ends with a summary of open problems and an outlook of future directions in the area of routing theory.

  • Author : Michel Diaz
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2013-03-01
  • ISBN : 1118623053

Download or read book Petri Nets written by Michel Diaz and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Petri net is a mathematical representation of a network. This book first introduces the basic models including time and stochastic extensions, in particular place-transition and high level Petri nets. Their modeling and design capabilities are illustrated by a set of representations of interest in operating and communication systems. The volume then addresses the related verification problems and proposes corresponding solutions by introducing the main notions needed to fully understand the behavior and properties behind Petri nets. Particular attention is devoted to how systems can be fully represented and analyzed in terms of their behavioral, time, and stochastic aspects by using the same formal approach and semantic basis. Finally, illustrative examples are presented in the important fields of interoperability in telecommunication services, programming languages, multimedia architectures, manufacturing systems, and communication protocols.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 29th International Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science(WG2003)washeldintheMennorodeconferenceCenterinElspeet,The Netherlands.TheworkshopwasorganizedbytheCenterforAlgorithmicSystems of the Institute of Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University. The workshop took place June 19–21, 2003. The 72 participants of WG 2003 came from universities and research institutes from 18 di?erent countries and ?ve di?erent continents. The workshop looks back at a long tradition. It was ?rst held in 1975, and has been held 20 times in Germany, twice in Austria, and once in Italy, Slo- kia, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, and has now been held for the third time in The Netherlands. The workshop aims at uniting theory and practice by demonstrating how graph-theoretic concepts can be applied to various areas in computerscience, orbyextractingnewproblemsfromapplications.Itisdevoted to the theoretical and practical aspects of graph concepts in computer science. The goal is to present recent research results and to identify and explore - rections of future research. The talks given at the workshop showed how recent research results from algorithmic graph theory can be used in computer science and which graph-theoretic questions arise from new developments in computer science.
