Download or read book Between the Eternities written by Eddie Sawyer and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-02-09 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The race Between the Eternities begins before we take our first breath; it matches us against a relentless and undefeatable opponent, death. This competitor never tires nor is distracted in its pursuit of us, and the race continues until we or someone else closes our eyes for us after we draw our last breath. Between the Eternities is based on facts chronicled about the journey along this racetrack by my mother. The emotional roller-coaster ride of our characters exposes the reader to elements of despair and hopelessness when we discover the method death chose for the demise of one of the main characters. Humor is displayed when we see the heroine make her final drive into town or when we read of the small green snake that emptied the fishing boat. Love is exhibited throughout our words, as each character strives to lighten the heavy burden pending death has placed on the other cast. Hope too is a recurring member of the troupe. It appears at various times and roles only to be destroyed by death. But hope, not fear and sorrow, in the final act overcomes death to become the savior of the ones left to carry on the business of the next race! In these future races, the race of all life is leveraged to last only so long before all chips must be turned in for the final accounting. Since we cannot be victorious in this race with death, how does one keep score? On the final scorecard, only how we have run the race matters at all. Therefore, the true measure of our life is based on the choices and decisions we make as we run the course to its inevitable conclusion.

Even though it's claimed he died of natural causes, Teddy smells something fishy and it sure ain't the polar bear's lunch. Dealing with the zoo's top brass proves to be nothing but a waste of time. They want to see any trace of Henry's death disappear like yesterday's paper. So Teddy sets out to find the truth. With the help of Summer McCraken, a fiesty girl with secrets of her own, the two narrow down their prime suspects. Is it Martin Del Gato, FunJungle's head of operations who hates kids and hates animals even more? Or J.J McCraken, the owner of FunJungle and and hates animals even more? Or J.J McCraken, the owner of FunJungle and Summer's father, who has more concern for the dough he's raking in than the animals in the zoo? As their investigation goes on, Teddy gets squeezed on all sides to quit asking questions or Henry won't be the only animal in the zoo to turn up dead. The deeper Teddy and Summer get, they had better make sure they want to know what they want to know because when it comes to hippo homicide, the truth can't be kept in a cage!

Download or read book Historical Dictionary of Baseball written by Lyle Spatz and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2012-12-21 with total page 505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dating back to 1869 as an organized professional sport, the game of baseball is not only the oldest professional sport in North America, but also symbolizes much more. Walt Whitman described it as “our game, the American game,” and George Will compared calling baseball “just a game” to the Grand Canyon being “just a hole.” Countless others have called baseball “the most elegant game,” and to those who have played it, it’s life. The Historical Dictionary of Baseball is primarily devoted to the major leagues it also includes entries on the minor leagues, the Negro Leagues, women’s baseball, baseball in various other countries, and other non-major league related topics. It traces baseball, in general, and these topics individually, from their beginnings up to the present. This is done through a chronology, an introductory essay, appendixes, and an extensive bibliography. The dictionary section has over 900 cross-referenced entries on the roles of the players on the field—batters, pitchers, fielders—as well as non-playing personnel—general managers, managers, coaches, and umpires. There are also entries for individual teams and leagues, stadiums and ballparks, the role of the draft and reserve clause, and baseball’s rules, and statistical categories. This book is an excellent access point for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about the sport of baseball.
Download or read book The Spirit of America Party written by Tom O’Donnell and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2011-05-31 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fourteen chapters will touch on the decline and fall of the American Spirit. From the defeat of our war on drugs to the greatest military defeat ever visited upon American soil 9-1-1 While politicians danced on their party platform shouting we are the strongest nation on the face of the earth. The box cutter of terror was being sharpened in a cave in the Hindu Kush. An over medicated nation preoccupied with Academy award winners that failed to hear the giant steps of fire worshipers. Osama Bin Laden has taught the Moslem world that the United States is a paper tiger and our giant war ships can be sunk by a dinghy. A Nation who has lost touch with its roots and is ripe for Europeanization. Supreme court judges who want us to be ruled by The Hague. Communism has temporarily failed in the Soviet Union but has found a wet nurse in US liberalism. The media controls the mind of many and is a willing accomplice to the lies and charades of the demoncrat party. The American military is the last shred of American decency left and has more enemies in the USA than in the world. Religion has been downsized and replaced with Oscar worship. Abortion claims two victims. The mother and the child. Both are harmed by two villains. The politician and the butcher. Special interest groups have to be driven out of the senate auction house. The largest campaign contribution in any form should not be greater than one dollar. Housewives should have to approve the budget. The three biggest killers of the spirit of America are drugs, divorce and demoncrats. The CYA, the FIB, the State department and the Pentagon all need a make over. They all failed us on 911. The first casualty should be PC lawyers. We need wartime consulters. It is not Bush's job to get Bin Laden it is theirs. Anyone who thinks that this war will not last at least ten more years is living under false pretenses. Going to Iraq has given us a forward staging area for the invasion of Iran. A great strategic move. We bypassed all the minefields from the UN to Paris to Turkey to Saudi. Soon all who witnessed the greatness of the United States will be gone and the liars will rewrite history. This book will bring you home to a God Loving Nation of Dads and Moms who kept freedom alive and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Never forget you are a special breed. You are an American and the spirit of America is the great spirit. The red in the banner is for blood spilled for you and me by young people who gave up all their tomorrows so we could stand together and keep the vow. You will enjoy the New York 50's humor. You will get sentimental. You will get good flashbacks. You will see this country in the eyes of one who saw how great we were. Yet poor by monetary standards but rich in children and oneness in love. We were the servants yet we were kings. We were drug free. We tried to be better. We kept the vow. We served God and country in war and peace.
