Download or read book Und das ungeheure Bild der Landschaft written by Karsten Berr and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-03 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The understanding of landscape in the German-speaking area has some similarities with the discussions of the topic in other European languages and scientific communities, but there are some specifics. These specifics can be found both in the common sense understanding of landscape and in the history of scientific conceptualization. Special features of the common sense understanding lie on the one hand in the medieval roots, a strong romantic charge and the strong connection between home and landscape. With regard to the scientific examination of landscape, there are specific fractions and discontinuities in the German-speaking world. Contents• Theoretical Framing: the Creation of Landscape• The Genesis of the Landscape Concept in the German Language Regions – the Common Sense Understanding• The Concept of Landscape in Landscape-Related Sciences• Landscape Research in its Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Challenge About the AuthorsDr. Karsten Berr works as a research assistant at the Department for Urban and Regional Development at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen.Dr. Dr. Olaf Kühne is professor for Urban and Regional Development at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen.

Book Die Landschaft interpretieren Interdisziplin re Ans tze

Download or read book Die Landschaft interpretieren Interdisziplin re Ans tze written by Werner Kreisel and published by Universitätsverlag Göttingen. This book was released on 2021 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no generally valid, recognised definition of what landscape actually is. On the basis of its relatedness to the environment, to aesthetics, territory, society, politics, economics, geography, planning, ethnology and philosophy, the concept of landscape is considered to be a "composite" notion shaped by a thousand years of Central European ideas and of literary and art history. In other words, the very term "landscape" is ambiguous and it is used in different ways both in the scholarly world and everyday speech. The aim of this volume is to present various possible approaches to the phenomenon of "landscape". Far from laying any claim to be exhaustive or comprehensive we have simply tried to do justice to the overarching interdisciplinary approach of the Zentrum für Landschaftsinterpretation und Tourismus (ZELT: Centre for Landscape Interpretation and Tourism) by singling out and addressing individual instances of this fascinating multifaceted phenomenon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new Forum section focuses on the impact of Digital Humanities on Goethe scholarship and on eighteenth-century German Studies, alongside articles on a diverse range of authors and topics. The Goethe Yearbook is a publication of the Goethe Society of North America, showcasing North American and international scholarship on Goethe and other authors and aspects of the Goethezeit. Volume 27 features the yearbook''s first Forum, a discussion of the impact of Digital Humanities (DH) and "computational criticism" on Goethe scholarship and eighteenth-century German Studies more broadly. For this launch, invited contributors were askedto consider the canon in comparison to "the great unread" (Margaret Cohen): the vast expanse of uncanonized texts. The contributions evince approaches that go beyond the established binary of scholarly methods vs. data sciences; they also explore DH as a way of navigating the gendered fault lines of canon formation. Beyond the Forum, there are articles on Goethe''s self-marketing, on several of his major works, and on pivotal topics in them (orientation, der Gang, and transgression); on nascent anthropology, on Creativity Studies, and on other eighteenth-century figures (Rahel Levin Varnhagen, Karl Phillip Moritz). Book excerpt: City by Landscape documents the work of a landscape architect active in the interface between urban planning, open space planning and architecture. For many years Rainer Schmidt Landschaftsarchitekten + Stadtplaner have been among the leading offices in the fields of landscape and urban planning; the projects are also increasingly being realized internationally, above all in North Africa, the Middle East and China. The company’s overriding objective is to find answers to the urban-planning problems of today, and to do so in the awareness that 21st century landscape architecture should be a ‘built’ reflection on how people deal with one another and with nature. The office puts these answers into practice as designs and strikes a successful balance between design, functions and feelings. The intelligent use of natural resources is of prime importance for the work of the office so as to maximize the ecological, economic and social impact of the projects. In various essays the book addresses the central topics in Schmidt’s work and documents some 40 selected projects including the highlight Business Towers in Munich, the park city Schwabing, the Congress Center Doha and the Great Mosque of Algiers.
