This report first reviews the general geology of the Lake Ainslie area and the geochemistry of local volcanic rocks. It then describes the barite-fluorite veins, their structural geology, and the structural geology of the vein systems. A simple model for fracture development in the area is presented. Results of fluid inclusion, stable isotope, and rare earth element studies are then described and discussed and a genetic model is postulated for the barite-fluorite veins. Finally, exploration criteria are outlined for other areas with possibly similar environments for barite-fluorite veins of the Lake Ainslie type.
