Book Biological Transmutations

Download or read book Biological Transmutations written by C. Louis Kervran and published by Beekman Books Incorporated. This book was released on 1980 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Guaranteed to revolutionize the way you think about nutrition & biological processes, BIOLOGICAL TRANSMUTATIONS is a compilation of 3 of the major works by French scientist Professor C. L. Kervan. Translated by Michael Abehsera, this book includes illustrations, charts & bibliography & is accessible to the scholar, laymen, & student. Kervan scientifically links the ecological systems of the world with the biological systems of man. The biological creates the physiological. From this premiise, Kervan redefines freedom as is known to modern man. "What is freedom if it is not to be free in every way, from our most minute cell to our most expansive dream? He is free who can afford to let the interactions between cell & spirit take place in the most harmonious way." Kervan's theories are now being applied in nutritional & medical fields, & have led millions of people to a new way of eating. Kervan has given the world the magic words by which we can save ourselves & our diseased earth.

Book Nuclear Transmutation Of Stable And Radioactive Isotopes In Biological Systems

Download or read book Nuclear Transmutation Of Stable And Radioactive Isotopes In Biological Systems written by Vladimir I. Vysotskii and published by Pentagon Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents the results of complex experimental and theoretical studies of effective nuclear synthesis and transmutation of stable and radioactive isotopes in growing biological systems. These nuclear processes are examined from three different points of view?as totality of experimental facts of low energy transmutation of isotopes in growing systems, as a process analyzed from the laws and perspective of nuclear science, and as a process studied from the point of view of biochemistry of live systems.

Download or read book The Lost Elements written by Marco Fontani and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2014-10-01 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Periodic Table of Elements hasn't always looked like it does now, a well-organized chart arranged by atomic number. In the mid-nineteenth century, chemists were of the belief that the elements should be sorted by atomic weight. However, the weights of many elements were calculated incorrectly, and over time it became clear that not only did the elements need rearranging, but that the periodic table contained many gaps and omissions: there were elements yet to be discovered, and the allure of finding one had scientists rushing to fill in the blanks. Supposed "discoveries" flooded laboratories, and the debate over what did and did not belong on the periodic table reached a fever pitch. With the discovery of radioactivity, the discourse only intensified. Throughout its formation, the Periodic Table of Elements has seen false entries, good-faith errors, retractions, and dead ends. In fact, there have been more falsely proclaimed elemental discoveries throughout history than there are elements on the table as we know it today. The Lost Elements: The Periodic Table's Shadow Side collects the most notable of these instances, stretching from the nineteenth century to the present. The book tells the story of how scientists have come to understand elements, by discussing the failed theories and false discoveries that shaped the path of scientific progress. We learn of early chemists' stubborn refusal to disregard alchemy as a legitimate practice, and of one German's supposed discovery of an elemental metal that breathed. As elements began to be created artificially in the twentieth century, we watch the discovery climate shift to favor the physicists, rather than the chemists. Along the way, Fontani, Costa, and Orna introduce us to the key figures in the development of today's periodic table, including Lavoisier and Mendeleev. Featuring a preface from Nobel Laureate Roald Hoffmann, The Lost Elements is an expansive history of the wrong side of chemical discovery-and reveals how these errors and gaffes have helped shape the table as much as any other form of scientific progress.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Macrobiotics is a passport to a world of infinite understanding and adventure. It has been read, reread, studied, and treasured by hundreds of thousands of people who seek a clear, comprehesive approach to the problem of living in a world of endless change. Now after two decades, The Book of Macrobiotics has been completely revised and expanded to reflect refinements in Michio Kushi's teachings, as well as many developments in the modern practice of macrobiotics. During this time, the standard macrobiotic diet has been simplified and broadened. Macrobiotic approaches to cancer, heart disease, and other degenerative disorders have evolved and expanded, as have basic home care and lifestyle recommendations. This revised edition of The Book of Macrobiotics also includes a new chapter on the Spiritual World; new material on Yin and Yang and the Five Transformations, Man/Woman Relations, and Humanity's Origin and Destiny; and an annotated East West Reading List. Many new illustrations have been furnished, and the Food Composition tables have been expanded to include nutritional information on dozens of additional foods, including tempeh, seitan, rice cakes, and amazake. Here, for a new generation, is a beautifully revised and updated version of a macrobiotic classic.

Book Radium and the Secret of Life

Download or read book Radium and the Secret of Life written by Luis A. Campos and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2016-07-05 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Long before the hydrogen bomb indelibly associated radioactivity with death, many chemists, physicists, botanists, and geneticists were excited thinking that radium held the key to the secret of life. Luis Campos examines the many and varied connections between early radioactivity research and understandings of vitality, both scientific and popular, in the first half of the twentieth century. As some physicists and chemists early on described the wondrous new element and its radioactive brethren in lifelike terms ( decay, half-life, and frequent reference to the natural selection and evolution of the elements), many biologists of the period eagerly sought to bring radium into the biological fold. They did so with experiments aimed at elucidating some of the most basic phenomena of life, including metabolism and mutation, and often saw in these phenomena properties that in turn reminded them of the new element. These initially provocative links between radium and life proved remarkably productive in experimental terms and ultimately led to key biological insights into the origin of life, the nature of mutation, and the structure of the gene. "Radium and the Secret of Life" traces the half-life of this connection between the living and the radioactive, while also exploring the approach to history that emerges when one follows a trail of associations that, asymptotically, never quite disappears."
