Download or read book Quality of Life Indicators written by David H. Sherwood and published by Cmhc. This book was released on 1996 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Community Oriented Model of the Lived Environment (COMLE) was developed to assist municipalities to assess & monitor the quality of life in their community. COMLE provides an approach for applying 40 quality of life indicators and makes a direct link between quality of life and sustainability. This report begins with a discussion of the quality of life and the need for a practical model of indicators to be used in public policy research. It then describes the development of COMLE and its sub-components, and reviews the 1993 pilot test of the model in Quebec, Toronto, and Fort McMurray, with additional commentary from Montreal. Experiences of the participating municipalities are summarized, with their full reports in the appendices. The report makes recommendations for improving the model, discusses its limitations, and states some conditions for its successful use.
