Download or read book Law Making in the International Community written by Gennadiĭ Mikhaĭlovich Danilenko and published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers. This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the world approaches the end of the twentieth century it becomes clear that the global legal system governing relations between the members of the international community is passing through a period of profound change. The traditional lawmaking techniques, established largely at the beginning of this century, were constituted so as to provide for only gradual reforms within a limited and homogeneous community of states. Faced with a growing number of global problems, the international community has discovered that the traditional legal system lacks effective procedures for rapid generation of new international legal norms. "Law-Making in the International Community" examines to what extent the transformations in the social and the legal infrastructures of the international community have affected the traditional rules, determining how international law is to be made or changed. By focusing on actual state practice, official statements of governments and the pronouncements of the World Court, this book seeks to clarify the content and significance of the existing community consensus concerning the authoritative methods of lawmaking.

Download or read book Czech Yearbook of International Law Public Policy and Ordre Public 2012 written by Alexander J. Bělohlávek and published by Juris Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2012-04-01 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are proud to present to our readers Czech Yearbook of International Law 2012, Volume 3. The overarching topic of this volume, Public Policy and Ordre Public turns its focus to the doctrine which is inherently connected with private international law, which is true only at first glance. The problem of Public Policy and Ordre Public is intertwined more deeply in the national legal orders than virtually any legal branch. However, the platform of private international law through which these doctrines emerge and find its strongest application is in the cross-border traffic of the court and extra-court decisions. In these relationships, the most important differences in understanding the extent and nature of these terms take shape. The third volume of the Czech Yearbook of International Law focuses on the uncovering of national differences and the comparison of such doctrines in a global perspective. CYIL 2012 takes into account the completely different connotations given to both doctrines in the United States and the Common Law countries in continental Europe. Download or read book The Political and Social Vocabulary of John the Deacon s Istoria Veneticorum written by Luigi Andrea Berto and published by Brepols Pub. This book was released on 2013 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Istoria Veneticorum, a chronicle attributed to John the Deacon, chaplain and ambassador of the Venetian Duke Peter Orseolo II (991-1008), is of fundamental importance for the reconstruction of early medieval Venetian history. In addition to being the only historical narrative of that period, it covers the entire early Middle Ages, from the invasion of the Lombards in 569, an action that forced a part of the Veneto's population to seek refuge on the islands of the Venetian lagoon, to the beginning of the eleventh century. Its importance is further emphasized by the limited number of the surviving early medieval Venetian sources. Berto's study of the political and social vocabulary of this work analyses the chronicler's use and contextualization of key words and provides the reader with an enhanced understanding of the Istoria Veneticorum. The attentive and skilful use of terminology by the chronicler confirms that the author was, in all likelihood, a member of the Orseolo entourage, that he was acquainted with the art of diplomacy, and that he was, in fact, John the Deacon. Furthermore, he did not limit himself to a mere recording of dates and events; rather, by a careful use of terminology-probably in order to avoid reopening recent wounds-he was able to express his opinions about the dukes who had ruled his country.
